    The Teacher [2]

    ‘N-no I mean, I kind of heard something, b-but’

She already knew she had said the wrong things, and that he wouldn’t let her walk away with this. Before she could think of something smarter to say, she felt his fist in her face, and she saw blood coming down her cheek.

Her mum came between them and tried to keep her dad calm, but before she had even reached them, her dad had got his anger out on her too.

‘You women keep saying that your problems are somebody elses fault, but you know what it is? You really know what it is?’

The alcohol had really gotten to him. He couldn’t even stand straight anymore.

Tina knew she had to handle things fast. She grabbed some food, took her mums hand and ran out of the house, before her dad could stop her…

She ran out of the street, out of their block and into the park. They settled down on a bench, and when Tina got her breath back, she tried to talk to her mother.

‘W-what happened mum?, why was he so angry?’

‘He got fired from his last job again…and we got the bills of this month. He spend all the money that was left on alcohol.. We are broke hunny.. so broke’

Tina’s mum wanted to mention the blonde’s grades too, but figured that wouldn’t make her happier, and this wasn’t the time to talk about grades.

All Tina could do was take her mum in her arms. She was mad at her for not giving her the home she deserved, but also understood that her mum really tried to do what was best.

They held eachother really tight and while the blonde did her best to not cry, she felt her mothers tears on her shoulder.

After sitting there for what seemed like two hours, tina realised she forgot about school. Fuck, I’m so late, mister Smit is going to be soo mad at me

Her mother noticed the scared look on the blonde’s face and decided to make it easier for her.

‘T, I’m gonna go to Carla and drink some coffee to relax a bit. Maybe she has a job for me. She promised me she would find something that I could do part-time.’

Carla was a sweet friend of her mother, who had always been there when she needed her. Tina knew that her mum would be safe there, so she decided to leave her to go where she really not wanted to go right now: biology class.

The blonde hugged her mum tightly, before taking her bag and the food, and walked in the direction of her school.
She was already an hour too late, so she decided to walk straight to the biology-class room. Before going into the room, she gave herself a little pep-talk, and took a last deep breath…

    1. Domestic violence and alcohol don’t mixe well. Poor Tina. Surely something can be done about that as Tina as a child has been abuse. Can’t wait to see where you are going with this and when Bette will come into this. Great story. PPVS
