    The Tower Of Learning

Helena: I still have a place in New York.

Tina: Bette, are you leaving right now?

Bette: I think it would be a better idea.

Helena: Mummy’s jet is still in L.A. you know, I could authorize the pilot to fly us.

Bette: Perfect, and we’ll catch a normal plane flight back.

    Helena: Exactly.

Bette pulled Tina in for another hug.

Bette: I love you, I’ll be back soon okay?

Tina: Okay, I love you too.

Bette turned to Angelica who sensed something bad and looked scared. Bette smiled and picked her up.

Bette: I love you sweetness, momma will be home soon, I promise.

    Angelica: I love you momma.

Angelica hugged Bette’s neck and didn’t let go until Tina had to help get her off. Bette and Helena went to the Saab and climbed in, quickly driving off.

Helena: Did she tell you what was going on?

Bette: Not really, I have no clue. But I’m mad as hell.

Helena: It could be people pulling the controversy card again.

Bette: It seems that is all people ever do with my work.

They drove back to the hotel and Bette grabbed her things. Then they quickly went to the airport where they had only a 20 minute wait before they were aloud onto the jet. Then they sat and waited patiently while the pilot was notified.

Bette: So you and Alice huh?

Bette questioned trying to lighten the mood. Helena smiled softly.

    Helena: Me and Alice.

Bette: You are so cute when you fall for a chick.

Helena smacked Bette’s thigh who laughed and decked Helena with a couch pillow.

Helena: I think we could be good together.

Bette: You aren’t the only one. I just hope she’s ready.

    Helena looked over at Bette.

Helena: I hope she realizes I’m not Dana.

    Bette smiled sadly.

Bette: You know she’ll always love Dana.

Helena: I know she will, but I don’t want her to look at me and think “hmm, I have Dana again, I have my best friend who is my girlfriend” because I’m not her.

    Bette: She knows.

    Helena: I hope so.

The pilot made her way across the lot and walked up onto the plane.

    Pilot: Hey Helena.

Helena: Hello Jill. How are you?

Jill: I’m just dandy, and who’s the lady?

Jill walked up and stuck her hand out to Bette.

    Helena: This is Bette Porter.

Jill: Wow, the Bette Porter… C.A.C. Bette Porter?

    Bette: The one and only.

    Jill smiled and winked.

Jill: Very nice. You know I might ask you out to dinner after this.

Bette: You know I may actually except your invitation.

Bette flirted back. Helena just looked at Bette.

Jill: Where are you ladies going?

    Bette: New York please.

Jill: Sexy with manners to boot. Wonderful. Well I’ll get you ladies there in an hour. See you later.

Jill walked to the front of the plane and out of sight. The tall, fair skinned green eyed brunette struck Bette as beautiful and very alpha. Bette liked her already.

Helena: Did you just flirt with the pilot?

    Bette: Yes I did.

Helena: You do realize you are with Tina right?

Bette: I’m not with Tina, we are good friends, best friends at that. But we aren’t together.

Helena: Then what was with the “I love you” ’s?

Bette: We can still say I love you, and be friends. That is all we are right now, and we don’t even know if we have a future. So I think it would be nice to date.

Helena: Well then… okay, not a bad idea.

Helena and Bette sat on the plane and waited, then finally lift off…

    TBC…

    1. That like putting a puzzle almost together. then tearing it apart. Do Bette want Tina are just Angie? someone should spin her head around and let her see where she has been. thanks

    2. Look, first you get them together, then Bette has to rush back to N.Y., now she’s flirting with the pilot. Bad idea. Bette needs to go take care of business and get back to what she set out to do, which is getting her family back. Messing around is what got her in trouble in the first place.

    3. WTF!!! First Bette wants Tina back, now she wants to be best buds. She doesn’t date for how many years, now she wants to see other people. Don’t get it!!! She should have left Tina alone.

    4. BJ, I love the pace of your story but I can’t help thinking that the end of this chapter is at complete odds with what you’ve led us to believe is Bette’s intent from the chapters you’ve posted already. Though a tad aggressive in her opening comment, I do agree with Catb above. Plus, you did indicate in the hotel bedroom scene that though friends is all they may be, that’s not what either really want. Please don’t sacrifice the integrity of your story for the sake of drama. Your opening paragraph of chp 1 doesn’t make Bette sounds as if she’s just ‘cool’ about her relationship with Tina…she wants more.

    5. Ladies, please lol trust me, I’ll give you what you want. But I need for both Bette and Tina to realize that their relationship is TRULY what they want. They are meeting up again after three years, who is to say they haven’t changed enough to be sure that a romantic relationship with each other all over again is what they both want and it will go alright and carry on, lol you all need to trust me just a little bit more.
