To Find Myself Again
Story written on February 8, 2010 by Journey1962.
I don’t know when it actually started. I think the more I got involved with Bette’s world the less important other things became to me. Not that I was close to my family or anything before Bette and I got together. But when we got together she became my family, she became my world. I fell so hard for her. My God she is so beautiful.. A beautiful yet tortured soul. I noticed it right away, the pain she tried to hide. All I had to do was look into her eye and I could see. But I figured that I could handle it. I handle people everyday in my line of work. Work was ‘head’ work but Bette she was my ‘heart’ work.
With Bette I just wanted to wrap my arms around her and protect her, take all her pain way. But when I did that I took the pain upon myself. I have let her say things to me that I wouldn’t take from anybody else. Not because I feared her. I just knew where it was coming from. But it would still crush me, sometimes very deeply. Slowly killing me inside. Like the night when we were going to meet her father for dinner and she judged me over my clothing choice, she picked out what she wanted me to wear. Later she made me get out of the car and wave to her dad and then she asked me to sit in the back sit. And I did it. I didn’t want a fight and she was stressed over seeing Melvin. Yeah, I made excuses for her behavior. She could be so loving and thoughtful and then the next minute I would get blind sided by a mood swing. It was like I was living with two women not one. As beautiful and confidant as she comes off she could be so insure, the fragile little girl who’s mother died on her at a young age. That same little girl who worked so hard for her father acceptance and could never fully get it. I didn’t want to add to her insecurity but I wasn’t really help her work through them. I was enabling her. I was enabling her to bully me. I took it because I loved her, I still do love her and I always will.

AMAZING!!!! Thank you
Some great insights that were not explored in the show.
Somethings I read what I wrote and say did you really write that. I like what Tina had to say. It sounds so much like me. :)
That was a beautiful insight to Tina’s thought process of her relationship with Bette. You know the part of her freaking out about Marcus’girlfriend always bothered me, when she was such a strong women according to her past history. That was an enjoyable read. Thank You.
thanks for this :)
This is great writing. I like it. Definitely deserve a 5 stars rating.
WoooooHoooooooo!!!!!!!. From the very first paragraph knew you had a winner with this story. You have captured the very essence of the show and what it was all about from the beginning. I’ve not seen another like this. Some have come close but you have NAILED IT. Thanks for sharing with us and posting.
