Too Much Time on My Hands Has a Sequel and Now I Need a Better Title

“What’s Alice been up to?” Bette asked, once the children had finished breakfast and had plunked themselves down with Angelica’s toys. Helena looked over at them, surprised that they were enjoying themselves so much—Wilson was in his element, organizing a tea party for himself and his sister.

“She’s been working really hard on the OurChart stuff. Not much else. Lara visited briefly…” They raised their eyebrows at the same time.

“oh reeeally. What happened?” But Bette’s question led Helena to pretend that she was zipping her own mouth closed. “Sworn to secrecy?” Bette looked confused. “That doesn’t sound like Alice.”

“Well, you know, on that one, it’s a bit touchy. They’re still not entirely sure about what happened between them, but they never stop talking and they enjoy each other’s company so much…” Helena reached out to caress the back of Bette’s hand. “Speaking of which, how are you doing with all of this? Because when it comes to the question of one another’s company in this equally complicated and rather difficult to comprehend sort of scenario…I’m…well, I’m…”

“I’m enjoying your company immensely as well.” Bette blurted out, laughing. “you don’t have to worry, if you’re worried, I mean, you don’t have to worry…”

“About overstaying my welcome?” Helena looked up as Bette shook her head.

“Well…” Bette pressed her lips into a thin line, fighting the grin which threatened to overtake her face.

“Well…” Helena echoed. They stared dreamily at one another, before Helena broke the spell. She smacked her palms against her thighs and tried to become businesslike.  Looking over at Wilson and Jun Ying again, she asked. “Kids, what do you want to do today? Winnie is picking you up at 8 o’clock tonite, so we still have a whole big day ahead of us.”

Jun Ying was eager for more swimming.  Wilson, reluctant to part with the tea set, nevertheless agreed with his sister when she suggested that they go to the beach for the day.

“Good. Done. Maybe you children should go and pack up your things now?” They rolled their eyes but complied with their mother’s request—sometimes, her tone reminded them of English schoolteachers in movies they had seen.

    1. Well that was beyond hot. I love the family scenes too (Wilson and his tea party!). Helena’s kids remind me (in spirit at least) of Edina’s eccentric offspring on Ab Fab; luckily for them, Helena’s parenting skills are considerably more evolved than Edina’s. And Tina? I always suspected she’d end up with a tofu farmer. As for the parallel-universe explanation, it’s fiction so why not? Bette and Helena rule in all three dimensions!

    2. okay, i just exhaled…and a few other things…whew…that’s about all i can say…delicious, decadent…umph! you sure don’t leave anything to the imagination…can’t wait for the next installment..,

    3. You know there is a time when words can not be express for a situation and this is that time. If I had to choose between any of your stories as my favorite, I honestly could not or would not. Thanks for taking the time to share it. When I wonder can you top your last one you always seem to come through.Terrific as always!

    4. Ive been reading your stories this past week, and I love your style of writing. I can’t wait to read the next installments.PS. Fuck Tina’s brains, off with her fucking head

    5. Gee…one plant is either one too many or not nearly enough. They keep going like that, neither one should have too many insecurities about the other. But helebette, it occurs to me that you have a real vendetta about Tina’s brains. They were eaten by zombies in “Planet Terror”, you just gave her a lobotomy in “Life Happens” and now in this one she’s dating a farmer who grows tofu(?) on what may be a cult compound, which would require the complete absence of brains. Jesus, what did she ever do to you?

    6. i really, really luv your writing, and of course the pairing of helebette, but my favorites of yours, were the ones where they have the conflicts, but have no choice but to cum together anyway, i think when they are both in full alpha mode, and trying to fight the attraction but to no avail is so damn hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
