The strobe lights danced a crazy rhythm of color all over the crowd at Milk. The music blared in the speakers and people danced the night away, enjoying themselves and having a blast. Carmen sat at the bar, her brow furrowed trying to get her thoughts going in one direction. Why did Shane ditch me like that? Was it something I did? Was it something I said? Why am I doing this to myself, it’s obvious this girl is fucked up. We had *****, big ***** deal. It was just ***** why am I making such a big deal out of it. I’m an idiot. No, she’s an idiot.

“Are you okay?’ Carmen snapped out of her daze at the sound of Shane’s voice. She swivelled slightly in her chair to face the green-eyed beauty.

“Fine.” murmured Carmen, still a little shocked to see Shane standing before her. Shane stared at her as if wanting to speak. Her mouth opened a little but nothing came out. Carmen looked around uncomfortably, not wanting to be there, but not knowing where else she could go seeing that her shift didn’t end for another thirty minutes.

“I’ve got to go to the bathroom.” she stated quickly hopping off the chair and disappearing into the crowd. Shane watched her vanish into the body packed floor, turning around she sat on the seat Carmen had occupied moments before. There was something about this girl that made her feel scared, happy, and confused all at the same time. She was gorgeous, no doubt but there was more to it than that. The day at the studio when she first laid eyes on the Latin stunner, she knew she was completely hooked, but that’s what scared her most. She didn’t know Carmen very well. She didn’t know what she was like in past relationships or if she’d ever been in one. The only thing Shane knew was feelings like this could only lead to one thing. Pain. That was one thing Shane was not willing to put herself up for. Shane cleared her head and ordered a beer. Carmen was a good *****, but that was all it was. *****, and she’d done that with lots of other girls. Out of nowhere a panting Alice ran up completely out of breath.
