When New and Old Collide: Chapter 3
Bette: Whoa Shane, I just came to get a drink and chill out. I am not here to ruin Tinas life or to start anything, I did not even know you were here. She says a little defensively.
Shane: Well just make sure that you dont go over there. Pointing in the way of Tinas direction. Please, she is doing so well with Bethy and she doesnt need the drama. She says as she walks away.
Bette (Thinking): “Bethy?”
Tina turns a little in her seat trying to scan the room for her friends, while also staying put on her seat without falling off onto the floor. While she is scanning she sees Alice and Dana still shaking what there mamas gave them on the dance floor and she cant help but laugh a little as Alice does the running man into Danas tootsie roll and they hit the floor in a pile of embarrassment. Tina still scanning the room sees Shane talking to someone, but she cant see there face do to Shanes body being in the way. Tina figures it is just another one of Shanes women. Tina finally spots Kit and waves; Kit sees her waves back, thinking Tina might be ready to leave. Tina then slowly turns back to right herself in her chair and while she is turning she sees her, the woman that Shane was talking to, Bette Porter or who she thinks is Bette. Tina starts to stand up as Shane gets to the table.
Tina: Was that she trails off.
Shane: Who?
Tina (Thinking): It couldnt be, I must be oh so drunk and I am hallucinating. Right I am hallucinating but why am I hallucinating about Bette?
Shane: Tina, are you ok?
Tina: Yeah Shane I think I am good. How about another shot?
Shane: Sounds good to me; let me go and get them. She says grateful that Tina did not say what she thought Tina was going to say, and hoping Bette left before Tina saw her.
Bette walked out the front doors of Milk and started down the street. Jenny was walking up to Milk after a night at the strip club. Jenny noticed Bette walking to her car and could not believe what she was seeing, she thought about saying hi but then thought about what might have happened inside and wanted to see how Tina was doing. Jenny walked in and saw Tina right away, sitting alone at a table watching Alice and Dana freak dance on the dance floor.
Jenny: Are you ok Tina?
Tina: I am great; a little drunk but great, why?
Jenny: I just thought that you would be upset after seeing Bette.
Tina: What are you talking about? she says now wondering if what she saw was real now.
Jenny: I just saw her leave; she looked upset so I came to see if you were alright.
Tina not hearing another word gets up and runs to the front doors of Milk. She runs outside but Bette is long gone and now Tina is wondering why she is running to find someone who obviously did not want to be near her. She sits on the curb as she starts to cry, but is she crying because she misses Bette or is she crying because she thinks Bette does not miss her.
