    Chapter 1

     

    Chapter 1

     

     

    Tina was trying to take one more second to complete her thought, Tina was plagued by the clock.  Once again she was late.  Looking at her watch she knew that Angelica would be waiting for her by the time she got to her school.  It just couldn’t be avoided.  If she didn’t do her job to the best of her ability then there wouldn’t be the private school that Angelica was waiting at.

     

    Sitting outside the school, once again waiting for her Mom to pick her up, Angelica pulled at her collar, hating the school uniform that she was always required to wear.

     

    She was also tired of always having to wait for her Mom to pick her up. Tina was consistently late, leaving an embarrassed Angelica to be one of the last kids to leave the school each day. Resenting this habit of her mother’s, Angelica took one more look down the road to see if the familiar car was coming, and then abruptly stood, her decision made. She was ten years old after all, and no matter what her mother said, she felt old enough to find her own way home. It can’t be that hard to figure out the subway!

    Bette was leaving her gallery for the evening.  It had been a difficult day, something that normally only took her a few hours to perform took twice as long.  She wasn’t really sure what was going on with her but her overriding emotion was a bone weary tiredness.  It was only a partial day for Bette, her normal day more like 15 hours.  But Bette couldn’t explain it but she just couldn’t be here any longer.  Closing the door behind her, she put her key into the lock.  Before she could turn the key a wave of nausea passed over her making her lean up against the door for just a moment to regain her equilibrium.  “Well that does it.  I guess I have to quite ignoring this and find out what the problem is.” She says to herself but already knows that if she can make it home she will really wait to see how she feels in the morning.

    Tina walked up to her brownstone in a quick clip.  She had been to Angelica’s school and no one there seemed to know where her daughter was.  She had pounded on the door for what seemed like forever.  Finally, a janitor opens the door only to inform her that the school was closed for the day.  She knew it was closed why else would she be there to pick up her daughter?  She was praying to God that she had somehow gotten a ride home with one of her friends and just hadn’t informed her.

    1. Depressing, interesting and well written. Bette is treating AML as if it’s a mere bump in the road, an annoyance that she doesn’t have the time or patience for. Unusual response on her part. But if she really thought deeply about her circumstance, she’d probably be profoundly sad. She needs her loved ones around her, to lean on a bit. Happy B-Day, Seahurst. Have a splendid day.     3. At least Bette’s prognosis is good. Is this 11 years after S1 or perhap an alternate premise to Seahurst’s ‘If it is meant to be’ or just an unrelated beginning for B&T?     21. so are u gonna give back drops on the B & T relationship and y they r not together in your world?? and let us in on if Angie sees Bette at all. Cancer sucks, lost my aunt to it years ago, and no one I mean no one ate and lived as healthily as she did. still can’t reminisce about her with out becoming deeply emotional.

    24. Oh my goodness!! This is so very intriguing. So so far we got Tina and Angie in New York and Bette wrapped in her work in L.A. and living with cancer. Well well I don’t know when we’ll get another chap of this but I’ll be waiting. Thanx Sweetie. PEACE.

    34. HEY JWet, Doing a little happy dance now. It is okay as most folks have leaft the building. Now just screaming my delight at the start of, what I know will be, a wonderful journey. You have me hook, line and sinker now. I have assumed that Bette and Tina are not together. Does Bette still see Angelica? Are they in different cities or states? Will Bette’s illness be the spark that unites the fire of their reationship. Please say yes. Anywho, I really can’t wait to see where you take me. I will follow.
