Opening the front door, “Angelica!” Tina yelled.
The house was quiet. “Angelica are you home?”
Tina stands in the foyer looking up listening for the sound of Angelica coming out of her room. She always spends all her time in her room these days. Not hearing the familiar sound of Angelica coming out into the hall, Tina moves upstairs.
Rushing up the spiral stairs, Tina gets to the top to find Angelica’s bedroom door closed. This was a good sign. She always left her door open when she left her room in the morning. Reaching for the door knob Tina opens the door without knocking.
There lying across her bed face down was Angelica still in her school uniform. “Angelica what are you doing home? I was nearly out of my mind with worry when I went to get you and no one was at the school. How did you get home?” Tina asks in a quick flurry of questions.
Angelica rolls over at the sound of her Mother’s voice. “Mom you didn’t even knock. This is my room.”
“Answer my question young lady. I want to know how you got home. Did you get a ride from one of your friends Mothers?” Tina demanded standing in the middle of Angelica’s room with her hands on her hips.
Angelica looked at her Mother and realized that if she said yes life would be easier. It would be simple. So she lied, “Yes I did”
Angelica could see Tina physically relax, her hands moving off her hips and her shoulders relaxing. “Oh. Well that’s great. The next time let me know so I don’t go chasing all over the earth for you. OK?” Tina says in a calmer voice.
“Right Mom.” Angelica says still coming to terms with her little lie.
“Well get changed and come down and help me get dinner ready.” Tina concludes moving out of Angelica’s room and moving down the hall to her own.

A few weeks later
Bette was once again at her desk at her gallery. Three stacks were on her desk. One was invoices she needed to review before they could be paid another stack of artist catalogs that she needed to review and the final was next years budget and all of the supporting documentation. Today she had scheduled her time to review all three of these stacks but it was two in the afternoon and still she has yet to even open any of the files. She was lost in her thoughts.
‘Why was it that nothing in her life went the way it was suppose to?’
This was the question that kept playing over and over in her mind. It had been eleven years since she had destroyed the life she had hoped to have every since she was a child. Eleven years since she had dusted herself off and dedicated herself to her inspiration, art.
‘What was so wrong with that?’
She had worked hard to reclaim the gallery she had once given up. A lot of hard work creating the beautiful world she lived in now. It was a world that inspired, a world that others admired and even envied.
“So again what is so wrong?”
Bette looked down once again at the one sheet of paper she did hold in her hands. It was a schedule she was going to have to keep. From the looks of her schedule she was going to be in the hospital for the better part of the next thirty days while they poisoned her for seven straight days at a time of continuous IV infusion or something like that. Once this course was finished she would have a few days to recover before it all started again.
‘Oh joy, joy’
With a shaking hand Bette sets her schedule on the top of her desk, amidst the piles of work. The reality of her situation beginning to set in, she had Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She was told her prognosis was good because of something to do with her genes. But the way she was feeling right now if her genes had been that damn good she wouldn’t have gotten this thing in the first place.

Depressing, interesting and well written. Bette is treating AML as if it’s a mere bump in the road, an annoyance that she doesn’t have the time or patience for. Unusual response on her part. But if she really thought deeply about her circumstance, she’d probably be profoundly sad. She needs her loved ones around her, to lean on a bit. Happy B-Day, Seahurst. Have a splendid day. I really like the first chapter. Bette has leukemia?? Wow..I have a funny feeling that this will be a bittersweet story, but I can’t wait to see what happens next. Keep it up. PPS.
At least Bette’s prognosis is good. Is this 11 years after S1 or perhap an alternate premise to Seahurst’s ‘If it is meant to be’ or just an unrelated beginning for B&T? I need more so post soon..lol. Happy b’day Seahurst, I’m actually cooking dinner for someone b’day today also, save you some springrolls :)

so are u gonna give back drops on the B & T relationship and y they r not together in your world?? and let us in on if Angie sees Bette at all. Cancer sucks, lost my aunt to it years ago, and no one I mean no one ate and lived as healthily as she did. still can’t reminisce about her with out becoming deeply emotional.
Another great story to look forward too. Lets hope Bette is okay. Please post the next five chapters you have written.

Oh my goodness!! This is so very intriguing. So so far we got Tina and Angie in New York and Bette wrapped in her work in L.A. and living with cancer. Well well I don’t know when we’ll get another chap of this but I’ll be waiting. Thanx Sweetie. PEACE.

HEY JWet, Doing a little happy dance now. It is okay as most folks have leaft the building. Now just screaming my delight at the start of, what I know will be, a wonderful journey. You have me hook, line and sinker now. I have assumed that Bette and Tina are not together. Does Bette still see Angelica? Are they in different cities or states?
