Window of Opportunity ch. 12
Window of Opportunity
Chapter 12
Previously:
“Yes, I’m gone Tuesday and Wednesday so that would be good. Come give me a hug before you go.” I leaned into her and we melted into a hug. It was incredible. After so much emotional talk, we both just needed to be held and we held on to one another. As we pulled away, I kissed her cheek and smiled at her. I told her that I would see them in the morning and went for the door. Before I could open it, I heard Tina’s voice behind me. “Since you say that you want to get back with me, will you be asking me out on a date at some point in the near future?”
Driving home I kept replaying the conversation that Tina and I had as well as her asking me if I planned to ask her out on a date. I must admit when she asked me that, I was shocked and confused. On the one hand she said that she needed time to understand and evaluate everything yet on the other hand, she was suggesting a date. I wasn’t sure how to respond so I stood there holding the handle of the door. She apologized for blurting that out but told me that she was serious in not wanting me to go away. She understands that we both have changed over the time we’ve been apart and in order to get to know one another again; dating would probably be the appropriate way. I was scared. I had not dated in forever. It seemed that I went from nothing to a relationship in nothing flat and I know with Tina, that was not a possibility. If she wanted dates with me, then I wanted dates too. I wanted whatever was necessary to convince her that I had indeed changed for the better and giving me another chance would be the best thing for her, me and Angie. I would have to think about it more. I left telling her that I would indeed be asking her out on a date but that I would have to do so in the proper fashion…she would hear from me soon. I leaned over, kissed her cheek and left. In my car now, I think that I handled the evening well. I was emotional but we were dealing with emotional stuff. In the past I would have held my emotions in to protect Tina but that is one of the things that doomed us last time. I have no need to protect Tina. Tina is a strong capable woman who is more than able to protect herself. Pulling into my driveway, I saw Shane and Alice’s cars in Shane’s driveway but decided to bypass them and go into the house and call Tina. I wanted to thank her again for a fantastic evening and invite her out for what I hoped would be the first of many dates for us.
