Window of Opportunity ch.21
After visiting with James I walked over to Shane and drew her into my arms. Although she was always around, our relationship changed when Bette and I broke up. Of everyone, Shane was probably the one who did not choose sides ever but she had held us in such high regards as a couple that our breaking up was a disappointment to her. She of course was Shane though and whispered in my ear that family night wipes the slate of the past away. She always knew what I was thinking.
Alice and Kit arrived next and Bette asked Alice where Becca was. Alice in her flippant manner said that there was no ring on her finger so Becca wasn’t invited to family night …she then added she had to work. I had only met Becca a handful of times but she seemed nice. She seemed to be able to hold her own against Alice. Their on/off relationship was I believed Alice’s choice out of fear but because of our own strain, we never talked about it. She and I hugged, really hugged and I felt that she forgave everything. It was that simple. Their love was always there for me had I not been so blinded by hurt and anger.
When I began dating Henry they thought that I was doing so to hurt Bette. A part of it all probably was wanting to hurt her but I always had feelings towards men that I needed to explore. If I had tried to be more in their lives they would have also but Henry didn’t feel comfortable with my lesbian past so to appease him, I stayed away. Leaving Bette was hard but leaving Alice and Shane made me cry at night. They were my friends in ways that Bette couldn’t be and I felt lost during the time that they weren’t in my life. Our friendship went from being inseparable to polite chitchat when we saw each other. Never again.
Kit of course was just Kit and I loved everything about her. She was always supportive of me and in the worst of times between Bette and I, she was the only contact I had with Bette. She would allow us the exchange Angie with her so we didn’t see one another. At least I saw her frequently. She was tolerant of Henry because he was a part of mine and Angie’s lives. I hugged her tightly and a tear was shed. She wiped it away and told me too many tears had already been shed. We were here for happy times and to make happy memories. I smiled at her and pulled her even closer. She was loyal. She never forgot how many times I tried to get Bette to talk to her when she was still drinking or that I was willing to listen to her myself. She was really family.

Simply lovely! Thank you for writing! [Did you find your glasses yet?] :)
So good!!! PPS.
I take it you teach?? I love that the gang were together and they all welcome Tina. Friends are the ones that counts in the long run. True friends are hard to find and to keep. Love how Bette and Tina acts so silly together. Feels like old times. thanks
Awesome! Looking forward to the date!
This story is so good. Thank you for sharing your talent.
I love this story more with every chapter! Please post soon as I’m very excited to see what Bette has planned for their date:)
Loving this story!!!!! PPS.
Oh, the heck with the students… we are all dying for more of your story! :>) So beautifully crafted. I love the flirting between B & T over the bathing suit. Absolutely HOT with a dose of reality (an inquisitive 3 year-old) thrown in as well. I think I’m looking forward to the date as much as Tina is! PPS
Testing, I hate state wide testing. We are doing it also. I don’t have to give it, but as a special area teacher I get to give extended breaks to the classroom teachers. Having Kindergartners for 40 minutes with golf clubs in their hands will drive anybody mad. I love how the family is coming back together slowly. The speed and care that is going into Bette and Tina reconciliation is amazing.
Loved the chapter. I hope you get your project done without too much trouble and take us along on the B&T date soon.
Incredible!!:)
