    Window of Opportunity ch.21

Tonight was great. The whole family was together again as it should be. Tina truly seemed comfortable, Kit was hilarious, James was amused, Bette was glowing, Angie was adorable and Alice was Alice. Wouldn’t trade her in for a different model for anything in the world. Bette, of course thinking ahead had gotten non alcoholic beverages and Kit’s face was priceless. Our tribute to her sobriety was often forgoing alcohol although she never requested it. It was nice though that at times, she was not the only one who remembered all the details of an evening and the reinstated first family night needed to be remembered.

Family night has always been a casual evening. The only rule Bette had placed way back when was that unless it was a barbeque, we ate at the dining room table. That allowed us all to be able to see one another and all be included in the conversation. We ate way too much and just talked. Tina told us some about what was going on with work and James told us about the sponsor pulling out. Alice told all the latest WeHo gossip and I told about the many women who made up my life. As Angie started to get restless, Tina got up to put her to bed. I know something’s going on. I watched Bette’s gaze at her as she led Angie to the bedroom. My heart swelled.

Bette and Tina together was just right. They were not a perfect couple of course but their love for one another surpassed most. Watching Bette watch Tina, I felt like a voyeur who had stumbled onto something that I should not have. It was private for them to work out but beautiful to see none the less. I could only hope that they could work it out.

I had been looking forward to tonight since we, with our drunken selves had decided to start family night again. Of course, our family is not complete since Dana is no longer here but I know she would want us to still get together and enjoy one another. I miss her but I miss our family also. I’m so glad that Tina is here. She, for so long was the glue to our family and when she was not a part of it, we all just fell apart. I understand her need to be away from us. I may not have liked it or even understood that whole Henry thing but she’s back with us and I pray that she and I can be like we were in the past.  As much as I love Dana, Shane, and Bette, Tina was always the friend that I had been searching for. In our differences, we were able to come together and forge a friendship that few understood. It didn’t matter. It worked for us. When Bette introduced me to Tina, I knew that she was the one for Bette and that she was the one I had been looking for also. She counteracted Bette’s moodiness and seriousness. She, at times was just as goofy as I was. We had from the beginning just hit it off.

    1. I take it you teach?? I love that the gang were together and they all welcome Tina. Friends are the ones that counts in the long run. True friends are hard to find and to keep. Love how Bette and Tina acts so silly together. Feels like old times. thanks

    2. Oh, the heck with the students… we are all dying for more of your story! :>) So beautifully crafted. I love the flirting between B & T over the bathing suit. Absolutely HOT with a dose of reality (an inquisitive 3 year-old) thrown in as well. I think I’m looking forward to the date as much as Tina is! PPS

    3. Testing, I hate state wide testing. We are doing it also. I don’t have to give it, but as a special area teacher I get to give extended breaks to the classroom teachers. Having Kindergartners for 40 minutes with golf clubs in their hands will drive anybody mad. I love how the family is coming back together slowly. The speed and care that is going into Bette and Tina reconciliation is amazing.

    4. Thanks for giving us the pleasure to read your delightful story. It’s so beautiful that makes our hearts warm and rejoice with all the charming details you are so generously bringing to this enchanting story of yours. Thanks, again, for posting. Hope you can update, sometime, soon. Sincerely, Lucero & Marsha – From Mexico City
