You Told Me You Love Me

Alice stirred when she heard someone knocking on the door. She opened her eyes slowly and looked at the door.

"Come in." she yawn and rubbed her eyes.

    "Hey, Alice."

"Mum? Oooh, I thought you were in New York filming?" Alice’s mouth was opened upon seeing her mum in the room.

"Hmm, yes I was. But I came immediately after I knew what happened. How are you my girl?" Lenore said while hugging Alice tightly.

"Yeah, I’m ok." Alice said while breaking the hug.

"How is Dana doing?" Lenore walked over to Dana and looked at her sadly, caressing her cheeks.

"Yeah, she’s fine." Alice said softly and looked at her feet. Lenore noticed that and quickly walk over to Alice and put her hands onto Alice’s shoulders.

"She will be fine, don’t worry. She’s a fighter, remember?" Lenore tried to reassure her daughter.

"She will fight for you. Just have faith in her, ok?"

Alice nodded and looked at her mother, trying to force a smile, a very weak smile. Lenore heart ached at the sight of her daughter. She was no longer the happy, witty and out going type she used to be anymore. In her eyes there were just sadness and regretness. And Dana. Lenore had never seen such a pale, weak and skinny Dana. Lenore knew how painful it was by seeing the person you loved deteriorating before you. The sight before her made her recalled the incident that happened twenty five years ago. Alice’s father was diagnosed with heart failures and died three months after slipped into coma. That was exactly like the situation now. Lenore shook her head trying to hold back her tears. She prayed to god that she would trade in anything for Dana to recover, even with her own life, because she knew that was the only way to make her daughter happy and living her live fully again. She exhaled and looked at Alice.

"Hey, honey, how about you go back to your apartment and rest for a while. Or maybe a bath? I will be here to look after Dana. I won’t be heading back to New York till next week."

"I don’t want to be away from Dana." Was the only thing Alice could say.

    1. Great update, uhhuh! I also love that Lenore is acting like a true mom. The flower pot thing was great — so many little moments make up a relationship. Dana’s box of letters is intriguing and heartbreaking. And Dana is fighting!! Good for her. Thanks so much! I can’t wait to see what happens next…

    2. uhhuh, hooray, hoorah., THANK YOU for letting D live. There is no need for your apology. Your writing hit home and brought out my emotion. That meant you did an excellent job. As I have mentioned earlier, I have separation issues. I HATE seeing love ones being taken away. This happened to be one of the worst case because it was A & D, imo, the most adorable couple on TV. That’s what it was all about. I entirely agree with you about the show’s lack of explanation. You are doing a fantastic job. Love the fact that Lenore was behaving like a normal concerned mother. Also it was great that A went to D’s apt. I can’t wait to read about the letters. I will keep a box of kleenex closeby just in case. The drama was executed beautifully started off with Lenore’s phone call. Till my dying day, I don’t think I will forget the image of A collapsing against the wall in the hospital corridor. It is one of the most unforgettable scene as I recall. I am also thrilled to see Shane and Bette being there. Your version is by far more human and reasonable. As long as D would recover some day, even if she would stay in a coma for several more updates, I don’t mind. Thank you very much for an excellent post. Lastly, please do not be discourage by the lack of comments. Judging from the number of hits on your stories including “Are you the one?”, you are doing great. Sometimes people are just a little reserved in voicing their opinion. It took me a good long time before starting to comment. So don’t worry. Looking forward to your next post.
