Dreams. Sometimes they’re funny. Other times they’re scary. Usually dreams are pointless. I’ve been told in my science class that dreams are random thought patterns of the brain. I, however, refuse to believe that. I think that dreams have a true meaning that you can never depict. I’ve always believed whatever school had told me. I would’ve believed their banter about dreams as well. There was one dream in particular that stood out. One dream that I knew meant something. Some people might call it an obsession. I call it perseverance.

It all started one night a few years ago when I was having a dream. I was on a sandy beach, alone under the stars with another person. This person was absolutely beautiful. She had curly brown hair, and dazzling brown eyes to match. Her perfectly tanned skin was smooth to the touch. Every time this dream would reoccur, it would be the same. I would run my hands through her amazing hair. I would then move my hands down her perfect skin on her back, eventually reaching her lower back and hold her close. “I love you, Ashley Davies.” I would say to whoever the girl was. She would then respond by giving me a kiss on the cheek.

That was as far as the dream had ever gotten. Usually by then I would’ve been woken up by my alarm or someone in my family. My name is Spencer Carlin. I’m 17 years old and will be going into my junior year of high school after the summer. I live in a quaint little town in Ohio called Washburn. I’m glad that we would be moving to Los Angeles in a week, because I hated living in a small town where everyone knew everyone else. It was because of this closeness to everyone in the town that made me never publicly admit my feelings. I was a lesbian. I had known I was since 8th grade. I had already came out to my parents, but never actually told anyone outside of my family. I couldn’t wait to move to LA, where I could finally be myself.

“Wake up, sweetheart.” I heard my mom say as I opened my eyes, only to be met by an unbearable brightness. I hated getting up in the morning. Despite the fact that it was summer vacation, my parents insisted on me being awake by at least 11AM.

    1. I love it. I just do…right away I was immediately drawn into the style. It’s almost novel-esque and it makes for a very unique read in the fan fiction world of constant dialogue. It’s hard to pull off, but when it’s done right it’s amazing. Nice job. I anxiously await the next installment.
