Taking the Long Way – (Chapter: Chapter 17: Sad Stories)

“Well in that case, your place it is.” Ashley said.

We cleaned up our picnic area and tossed everything in to the back of the truck.  I put blankets over the front seats so that we wouldn’t stick to the leather on the ride home.  I got in and then leaned over the consol to offer a hand to Ashley again, but she hopped in to the truck like a pro.  I raised my eyebrows at her.

“The thought of a shower is a powerful motivator.” She said with a smile.  The thought of more than a shower was the motivator for me.  I wanted to peal out of the parking lot and drive 90 mph all the way home.  I refrained and kept my over eager emotions at bay.

I pulled into my driveway 15 minutes later and turned off the truck.

“So, would you like to come in and uh, you know…hang out?” I asked with a knowing smile.

Ashley smacked me on the arm.  “Tease!  Get your ass out of this truck pronto, Carlin.”

Happy to oblige I jumped out and took her hand as she met me at the front of my truck.  We were half way down the walk to my studio when an errant geyser of water came shooting over and through the patio fence completely drenching Ashley and me.

We both yelped in surprise and I pushed her backwards to get us out of the stream of water.

“Jesus that is cold water!” Ashley gasped as she wiped off her face.

“So I see.” I replied looking down at her cold shocked nipples through her wet t-shirt with a smile.

“Oh my god, you have a one track mind right now!” Ashley said laughing.

“Oh girls I am so, so sorry!!” my grandma said through the fence. “This darn new automatic sprinkler is giving me some trouble.”

“Obviously!” I replied wiping the still dripping water off my face.  I walked back to the patio gate and entered to find my grandma equally, if not more soaked than me and Ashley.  I couldn’t help but laugh.  Ashley had followed me into the patio.

“Oh my, Sarah you are soaked!!  Spencer stop laughing and help her!” Ashley exclaimed.  I noticed that she had her arms crossed over her breasts.

    5. you’re story has so much more depth and meaning than most. You show such incredibly vulnerable human qualities to a ‘t’. can’t wait for the next post, because you describe the fire between them almost even better!
