    I had all these memories of Jena flashing through my head…good memories.

    Kaylen’s POV

     

    I looked over at Jena, kneeled in front of the recliner Spencer was curled up in.  She had her hands cupping Spencer’s face and the look between them held so much…too much.  The decision to be made, however, was not mine.  All I knew was that this evening had left me completely drained and it probably wasn’t even close to what Spencer was going through.

     

    As much as I wanted to be the moderator between them, not just for me but a bit for Ashley too, I knew I had to give them some alone time. 

     

    “Hey guys, sorry to interrupt.” I said softly.  Spencer moved back from Jena and crossed her arms.  There was a look on her face that gave me just a glimpse of the turmoil she was experiencing. “I am going to head back to Aiden’s for the night.”

     

    Jena stood up and Spencer got out of the recliner.  I grabbed a hand from both of them in my own.  There was so much to say but I just didn’t have the energy at the moment.  “I am never going to take sides in this you know” I said squeezing their hands. “I love my sister and I love my best friend.  Whatever happens I am here for both of you, just please…don’t make me choose.”

     

    Tears were welling up in all of our eyes again.  The two girls across from me nodded.  “Ok on that note I am going to leave this over-dose of estrogen moment.” I said with a smile.  They both laughed and gave me a hug.

     

    I closed the apartment door gently behind me and leaned back against it for a second.  God, I hope they didn’t do anything stupid to make this whole situation more of a complex mess.  Nothing like being right in the middle of this crazy girl-on-girl drama. 

     

    It was dark in the apartment when I walked through Aiden’s door.  Ashley’s car was still parked outside so I knew she was still here.  Aiden was coming down the hall as I walked into the living room.  He put a finger to his lips and pointed at the couch.  I peeked over to see Ashley sleeping soundly with her had still wrapped around a beer bottle.  I reached over and gently pulled it out of her hand and then draped a blanket from off the couch over her.  I motioned for Aiden to follow me to the kitchen.  I poured the half empty beer down the sink.
