Chapter 14

Oh. My. God.  I think my heart just sped up to about 1000 beats per minutes…Ashley actually came to me first…. I mean, I know she texted me last night, but I can’t believe she’s standing here, in my room, with flowers… basically I don’t want to let myself fall even more for her if this is just her way to be ‘just friends.’

Ashley just took a seat on bed, taking my hand in hers, leading me the whole way.  I just sit down and stare at the flowers in my hands…I still can’t think of anything to say.

“Okay…so, um….uhhh.  Look Spence,” Ashley lifted my chin so I could look her in the eyes, God she’s so cute when she’s nervous, “Um…. I know you’re really pissed at me, and I totally get that.  I mean, I would be too, but you know how I get.  I guess I was just scared… I’ve just missed you so much.  You’re my best friend, I mean, I tell you stuff before Kyla even.”  Crap…now I was about to cry, I know it shouldn’t affect me that much, but damn I did not see the ‘just friends’ comment.

“Oh! No… that’s not what I meant either.  God, I just don’t even know where to start.  Um… I should just say it really fast, so it will be like ripping off a band aid… Okay so here it goes,” Ashley gave herself a little mini pep-talk and I just wanted to run out of my room crying….

“IJUSTREALLYLIKEYOU,LIKEALOT,ANDICAN’TJUSTBEYOURFRIENDANYMORE.” Did she just say what I think she said?!?!

“Say that again?”

“Well…um, Spencer, the reason I haven’t talked to you in over two weeks is because, I really like you, like a lot, and I can’t just be your friend anymore.” Ashley just put her head down, like she just say her puppy get shot to death.

“Okay….well, I’m glad I got that out of my way…. I guess I’m just going to go home then…..” Shit..she took my silence as rejection…. So I do the only thing I can think of as she stands up to leave..

I grab her hand, and as she spins around I put all my feelings into a kiss…it was the most intense feeling I have ever had, and it could have lasted days and I would still feel like I needed to kiss Ash even more.  As our lips crashed together, I walked Ashley back into my door until she was leaning on the door, and my body was pressed into hers.  Her arms immediately wrapped around my waist and I put my hands in her hair, bringing her lips impossibly closer to mine.
