    Complexities – (Chapter: 1)

I really don’t know how things escalated into such complex matters. I almost wish it stayed the way it was when I first moved here. Sure I was lonely, sure I was depressed… but the day was a hell of a lot easier. It was routine. No choose this, choose that situations. Well I guess I should let you know the basics before I even get into the complexities. My name is Ashley Davies. I grew up in Burlington, Ontario, Canada. I have a twin brother named Ashton. When I was 14 my parents got a divorce. He chose to live with mom. I chose to live with Dad. So when my dad got an offer to work in a small suburban town in California, he took it. And that’s where it started. Since you now know the background info… I’ll take you back to the beginning of all of this. Back when it was just me, myself, and Jak.

"Come on Jak. You wanna go for a jog to the park? Yeah?! Yeah?! You wanna play ball?!" I get my miniature Australian puppy all riled up as I grab her leash. "Oh boy! I bet you do! Huh?"
I smile and kneel down and attempt to connect the collar and leash. "Well if you keep squirmin like this you aint goin no where babe." Almost automatically she plops her butt on the hardwood floor and resists her twitches and whimpers, patiently waiting for me to put it on and open the door to freedom.
Jak is currently my only friend. Haha… it sounds pretty pathetic I know. But I really just moved here about a week ago so I guess I have an excuse. I have always wanted a puppy since I was like 7 but my brother was ‘allergic’ to the pet hair. Now that we don’t live with him anymore I saved up my money and bought my Jak. She’s gonna grow to be about to my knees if a little shorter and she has the cutest rustic red hair with a pure white face and tail. And yes… I am aware that Jak is a boys name but I love the name and I knew I loved her the second I saw her. So I thought taking the c out of it kind of justified it.
I think I need to work on ranting about my Jak Jak. "Yes I do!" I talk to her as if she will magically talk back to me. I pull my hair into a pony tail and slip on my running shoes.
"I’M GOING FOR A JOG! BE BACK WHENEVER!" I yell to the whole house… knowing that no one cares if I go or if I stay. But hey… I can pretend that someone cares right? I guess if it floats my boat I don’t see the problem of it.
