What Now? Chapter: 6 – Anger Management

Alice exhaled deeply as she unlocked her and stepped in to the apartment. This had been quite a night, although not in the way she had hoped for. Her and Danas romantic date had started off very well, but after dinner everything went downhill. Alice felt pretty sure that Dana was upset with her for taking Helena home instead of just calling a cab for the drunken heiress. That would actually have been more than enough. Alice knew shed probably be a bit upset herself, were she in Danas shoes. But Alice could not help the feelings of guilt towards Helena. She felt partly responsible for the emotional state of her, after their not so friendly encounter earlier that day. It was only later she realized that her own words and actions did not have so much to do with Helenas misery as she first thought. There were something else, much deeper going on with that woman.

When she was about to call Dana to pick her up Helena had instead insisted on paying for a cab. She had tried to protest, saying Dana would pick her up, but Miss Peabody was too drunk and too grateful to listen to that kind of talk. To tell the truth Alice was actually relieved she did not have to stay and wait for Dana to come, getting a cab would get her out of the house faster so she finally accepted the offer. Helena was in a strange, sad sort of mood, and kept laughing at her own misery, which made the situation even more uncomfortable. It was a laugh of such pain Alice squirmed every time she heard it. She did not know if she ought to feel bad for wanting to leave or not. Helena was not a friend, but still, she felt maybe she should have stayed. Helena probably needed someone to be there for her, but the woman did not seem to have anyone.

Now, stepping in to her seemingly empty apartment she was a little surprised. She had expected Dana to be here.

Baby? She called out. No answer. The apartment was completely dark; accept for the lights displaying the Chart. Dana was clearly not there. Alice immediately reached for the phone to call her girlfriend.

    1. I just drop quick line. I’m really enjoying story and characterization of Helena. I began to like her a little bit towards the end when she wasn’t with Tina. Definite issues to be delved into.
