    A Bette and Tina Beginning


    Bette’s POV I have to have her CH 1

    “Every time I have one of these artists’ dinners, I swear it will be the last one!” I mutter as I flop into my high-backed chair in my office. James is right behind me with a smirk on his face, he’s heard this rant at least 500 times since he’s worked in the Bette Porter Gallery.

    “You’re just antsy because Trisha Desmond is demanding to sit right next to Alice, to pump her for information on you”, James smirks, trying not to laugh out loud.

    “I know. I can’t stand the thought of that woman even thinking about me in any way other than in a professional mannerICK!!!” I laugh as I say the last part of that sentence. I am not a stranger to women wanting my time, my attention or my body for that matter. I just like to choose my partners on my own, and usually, I choose women who aren’t as direct and in your face as Trisha Desmond.

    I unfurl myself from my chair, and stretch languishly, realizing the end of the day has finally arrived.

    “James, don’t you have a date tonight, with that Tracy girl from the sushi bar? “You know the cute one with the blue eyes and tiny little mole right by her lips?”

    “Hey!” James looks at me wide eyed. “Keep your hands off Boss!!! It’s hard enough competing out there with other guys, but against a hot babe like you, I wouldn’t have a chance!!!”He laughs.”

    Smiling at him, I wink and tell him to leave. I will lock up tonight, “I wouldn’t want you to be late picking her up and her come here looking for you while I am here alone. I would have to comfort her you know.make her feel better about herself.let her know what depraved individuals men are.

    At this point James is starting to wonder if I am serious or not, sometimes he can’t quite figure me out.

    I laugh as he practically runs for the door.

    Finally alone, I turn back to the gallery. It has been a long two years getting this place to where it is. And I rarely have time to appreciate the effort, and the outcome. I walk slowly through the aisles, trying to look at the displays objectively as a newcomer might. I think of notes to make myself on small changes I would like James to make on Monday.

    4. I must confess I have not read this story yet, but I absolutely LOVE the title: “I Have to Have Her.” Love a woman of conviction! I assume that is Bette speaking.

    7. Yes, techgal is right on – this story does have that “Umbrella” feel to it and by this I mean it is a very interesting twist on a TiBette Beginning and I love it and please, please continue!!!!!! ……… I have to have it, too!!!!!!

    16. WTF Tina would rather go wait by her car than stay and talk to Bette? It’s not like she was out in the sticks and didn’t have much of a choice in places to wait while help came along (I’ve been there and would’ve gladly let Bette keep me company and then taken her home lol). Methinks the majority vote is “yes” so please continue!

    17. I think that I have read one of your stories a few years ago on the other site, but I never saw this one and I must say for your first try at FF this is very good and as another commentor noted, I like the difference in the way they met.
