A Life I Never Meant Chapter Fifteen

I’m lying on my side facing the window, looking out so see how many planes take off from LAX in an hour. That’s how bored I am, in the previous hour I counted how many planes land at LAX in an hour. It hasn’t helped that everyday I think that the doctor is going to tell me that I can leave and then he says, maybe in two days time, and that they just need to observe me for a few more hours. Just to make sure, make sure if what isn’t really clear but I’m trying to trust them. Either that or I’ll get Bette to talk to them and find out what’s going on. Alpha Bette’s bound to get an answer.

This makes me smile to myself, because anyone that really knows Bette, and I consider myself lucky enough to know her that well, will know that a lot of that is front to hide the fact that she’s passionate about a lot of things and cares deeply about the people that mean a lot to her. She’s been here this morning and I know that I should have told her about Tina leaving tomorrow but somehow it just didn’t seem right.

Tina never said that I couldn’t tell Bette about her booking the return flight and maybe Tina told me with the underlying wish that I did indeed tell Bette, but it’s hard to tell with Tina sometimes what she really wants. In most ways she’s harder to read than Bette. The irony being of course is that Bette thinks that she hides it all so well.

So Tina’s probably leaving tomorrow and Bette has no idea. This wasn’t how it was supposed to be, not because I necessarily think that Bette and Tina should get back together, even though that’s what my heart is telling me should happen. I just think it’s about time Bette got some absolution for herself, from herself. She’s in an almost impossible position, she needs to forgive herself so that she can move on. It won’t make any difference how many times Alice and I tell her, it can only come from one person, Tina.

The good thing about this whole situation though is that you have to include the Alice factor. I know for a fact that Alice will see Bette today and unless Alice has a sudden attack of discretion Bette will find out that Tina is thinking of leaving. Hopefully this will spur Bette into some action.

    1. Very interesting – maybe Carmen and Shane can find resolution even if Tina and Bette can’t – although I am hoping they do just like Shane. Great chapter.

    2. great dialogue! can B&T have such mature and meaningful conversation? going by your past stories, your characters are all mature.. waiting to read when B/T meet.. assuming it’s gonna happen.

    3. yay, bring on the double wedding but not in Whistler, i mean B and T, S and C…they all belong together; and find a love for Alice soon..she so needs someone to love her forever….

    4. Not a Sharmen fan but this was a pretty good chapter. If only Bette and Tina can talk like this instead of having a yelling match. That is, if they actually get to talk.

    5. Okay I have made a final decision and I just don’t want to Tibette reunion. I am more interested in the Sharmen thing. Waiting patiently to hear this heavy duty conversation with Tina and Bette. Post soon!

    6. Well, maybe this the right time for everyone, Shane and Carmen and Bette and Tina. Maybe they all can get back to the ones they truly love. That would be wonderful. here’s hoping.

    7. So happy to see at least one of the couples have been given a second shot of working their feelings out. I know that this is your story, but I really do miss Bette and Tina being together. They at least need to talk. But it looks like neither of them are ready and both will never have the closure that is needed to really move forward. Oh well thats fucking life.

    8. Hey CG75, I liked this chapter a lot. Having Carmen and Shane finally talk things out was wonderful. Great to see that there is still hope there for a new and improved relationship. Carmen really gets Shane and now realizes why it did work in the past but maybe now a little older and wiser things can blossom as they should have. The insightful moments for how Shane feels about the rest of the gang was perfect. I wanna see how much harder Shane has to work to get Carmen. Can’t wait so pls post soon. Thank you so much.
