Previously –

“Damn it Dana!  You are not asking me to.  I’m telling you I am going to do it.  I want to do it.  I helped you before and I am going to do it again.  We both know you don’t want a stranger helping you and you really don’t want your mother helping you.  Don’t use the holidays for an excuse either.  I always spend the holidays with you and your family.  Now stop worrying about what is going to happen when you go home and start working on what you need to do to get home.” 

Dana knew by Alice’s tone that the conversation was over.  No matter what she said Alice had her mind set and there was no way she was going to change it.         

Chapter 15 –

As usual, Alice moved out of the way as a nurse helped Dana back into her room.  Today Dana chose to sit in the padded reclining chair that was also known as Alice’s bed.  Alice sat down in another chair and looked at Dana.  Dana’s eyes were shut and she leaned back in the chair trying to get her muscles to relax. 

“How are you feeling?”

“I swear Josh is trying to kill me.”  Alice and Dana both began to laugh.  Dana though about answering Alice’s routine question differently some days, but she knew her answer always made Alice smile and Dana would do anything to see it.  

“You look like you are in pain.  Josh must have really worn you out today.  Do you want me to ask the nurse to give you something for the pain?”  Alice had a concerned look on her face.  She was beginning to wonder if Dana was over working herself in physical therapy.

“I am glad no one was standing outside of the door when you said that.  They might think I am straight.  And no, I don’t want anything.  I just have to get used to daily workouts again.” 

“I won’t argue about the pain medicine.  Don’t worry about what people think.  You are a famous lezzy who could never impersonate a straight woman even if you had to, especially when you chose a flamboyant gay man as your boyfriend.”  Alice chuckled as she remembered the various parties Dana attended with Harrison at her side, pretending to be lovers when it was obvious to everyone they played for the opposite team.
