Sunday Mornings – Ten Years Younger …

    Sunday morning, rain is falling,
steal some covers share some skin.
Clouds are shrouding us in moments unforgettable,
you twist to fit the mould I’m in,
But things just get so crazy, living life gets hard to do
and I would gladly hit the road, get up and go if I knew
that someday it would bring me back to you.

That may be all I need,
in darkness she is all I see
come and rest your bones with me.
    Driving slow on sunday morning
and I never want to leave.

    Fingers trace your every outline,
paint a picture with my hands,
back and forth we sway like branches in a storm.
Change the weather, still together when it ends …

    “Bette?”

Tina swam on her back in the pool, her thoughts a million years away, preoccupied as she found herself stuck between one life and the next, waiting for some kind of resolution.

    “Yes?”

Bette was writing, chewing the end of a tattered yellow pencil between her teeth as she clattered away on her laptop, barely able to make out the words on the screen in the sun,

But she wouldn’t give up and go inside. For whatever reason, because Tina was swimming just a few feet away in the pool, she had to be outside,

Tina pondered her question carefully, “Did you ever believe that we’d be here?”

    Bette frowned, “Where?”

“Here … mothers, doing the school circuits and making our child out to be some kind of scholastic prodigy they all ought be begging us to have?”

Bette chuckled; amused by Tina’s description of how they’d spent their Sunday morning, “I don’t know, I suppose I imagined that we’d want him or her to go to the best schools so yeah, I envisaged it,”

Tina nodded, “Right …” she swam in circles around the pool, her topless frame obscured from Bette’s view by the air mat she’d just been lying on, “But don’t you think it’s funny,” she continued, eyes on Bette as she spoke, “I’m back in the movie business, you’re teaching again …” she kicked her legs, “It’s like we could be ten years younger,”

Bette raised one eyebrow interestingly, “Would you really want to be back there again? … thirty and trawling the bars every night trying to keep up with the social scene? … Sunday mornings spent recovering from the night before?”

    1. that was really beautiful sweety…it made me think a lot…like, its harder sometimes to live our own stories as best we can, than to want so much for a story that was never meant to be. i see your point about b ‘n t…how they could find themselves in an entirely new and interesting place by season’s end, once all has been accepted. you’re on a roll babe;) xo

    2. Ooh, new fic! I like your take on their past, and I think they’re in a better place now than when we first met Bette and Tina. As for them doing it over again, I don’t think they could change a thing, really, no matter how much they wish it all could have happened differently between them. Angelica redeems them and makes everything, as you wrote, worth it. Great start, I can’t wait to see ho it all unfolds. Nice one sofa, cheers!

    3. I haven’t been youtubing, but that conveyed the ambiguity and non-statedness typical of the show. I suppose there are times in life when one must wait until the time is ripe, but is a meaningful relationship possible when you keep what you mean to yourself? The chlorinated pool is far clearer.

    4. What a fantastic idea. I like the title “Sunday Mornings.” You know they are the best mornings to lay lazily in bed with the one you love. This really was a lovely way of taking that pool scene and delving into it more, as well as adding that whole dimension of a decade. Wow…when you honestly look at how much can be accomplished or NOT in that period of time. Beautiful as always Sofa. Thanks!

    5. Very cool, I love the flashbacks and can only hope that they make Bette and Tina both realize how truly right they are for one another. (Well, I guess at the moment we just need to work on Bette. LOL)

    6. I think I’m going to like Sunday mornings! Nicely written and I loved Tina’s answer at the end. I.C. likes the drama….I like the sentimentality that you bring to the story.

    7. Interesting. I can see the look that both Bette and Tina gave each other while out in the pool. Bette kept trying not to look and she was clearly affected by Tina floating around in the pool. I can’t wait for more of this coming from you. Are you still going to write more on your Tibette stories?

    8. Nice start… we have not really seen any flash backs in the actual show of Tina and Bette other than very quickly when they met… It would have been nice to see what the 8 years had really been like for both of them. So your version of that is excellent,I am looking forward to Sunday mornings now :-)

    9. Im loving this, season 5 was the best and anything written about it is just awesome. Oh and that pool scene was nice especially seeing little Angelica
