Sunday Mornings: 1 – Ten years younger …

Bette nodded, her eyes filled with love and adoration, their life turning out to be everything she’d ever hoped for.

Realising that Tina had turned around again and was watching her, Bette smiled, trying to remember when their united dream turned sour and began to fade. In ten years they were still there, in the same back yard on a sunny Sunday morning, no longer lovers but mothers, together again as friends, she shut the laptop and sighed, answering Tina’s statement finally,

“Jodi being around doesn’t change that fact that we’re both Angelica’s parents and united in that …”

Tina balanced her chin on her hands, staring back thoughtfully, “It doesn’t?”

    “No …”

Absentmindedly she swam towards Bette, coming to rest at the side of the pool, “What if she felt strongly about some aspect of Angelica’s education? …” Tina hypothesised, playing devils advocate expertly to her own advantage, “what if she asked you to send Angie to a pre school where she’ll be taught properly how to sign?”

“You mean with deaf children?” Bette asked,

    Tina shrugged,

“It’s none of her business,” Bette answered decisively, almost as if Jodi had suddenly verbalised Tina’s dreamt up scenario, “she’s ‘our’ daughter …”

Tina bent her head and smiled, hiding her eyes from Bette’s gaze, knowing that if she glanced up they’d give her away. It may be more than ten years since their dreams began but Bette was fooling herself if she thought things were all that different,

“Tee? …” Bette’s voice rang clear through the house, rattling the silence, “Tina?”

Tina sat alone out back, her head buried in a lengthy script, daydreaming between pages as her mind wandered back and forth from the way Bette left her, naked and running off an awesome sexual high just hours before,

“Tee …” Bette joined her quickly,

    “What’s up baby?”

Bette grinned, her train of thought interrupted for a second by the serene post coital look on her girlfriends face. She sat beside her on the lounge chair, moving one of Tina’s legs to wrap around her waist,

She chuckled, “Have you been working?”

Tina shook her head and laughed,

Bette raised one eyebrow in her customary way … “Why not?”

    1. that was really beautiful sweety…it made me think a lot…like, its harder sometimes to live our own stories as best we can, than to want so much for a story that was never meant to be. i see your point about b ‘n t…how they could find themselves in an entirely new and interesting place by season’s end, once all has been accepted. you’re on a roll babe;) xo

    2. Ooh, new fic! I like your take on their past, and I think they’re in a better place now than when we first met Bette and Tina. As for them doing it over again, I don’t think they could change a thing, really, no matter how much they wish it all could have happened differently between them. Angelica redeems them and makes everything, as you wrote, worth it. Great start, I can’t wait to see ho it all unfolds. Nice one sofa, cheers!

    3. I haven’t been youtubing, but that conveyed the ambiguity and non-statedness typical of the show. I suppose there are times in life when one must wait until the time is ripe, but is a meaningful relationship possible when you keep what you mean to yourself? The chlorinated pool is far clearer.

    4. What a fantastic idea. I like the title “Sunday Mornings.” You know they are the best mornings to lay lazily in bed with the one you love. This really was a lovely way of taking that pool scene and delving into it more, as well as adding that whole dimension of a decade. Wow…when you honestly look at how much can be accomplished or NOT in that period of time. Beautiful as always Sofa. Thanks!

    5. Very cool, I love the flashbacks and can only hope that they make Bette and Tina both realize how truly right they are for one another. (Well, I guess at the moment we just need to work on Bette. LOL)

    6. I think I’m going to like Sunday mornings! Nicely written and I loved Tina’s answer at the end. I.C. likes the drama….I like the sentimentality that you bring to the story.

    7. Interesting. I can see the look that both Bette and Tina gave each other while out in the pool. Bette kept trying not to look and she was clearly affected by Tina floating around in the pool. I can’t wait for more of this coming from you. Are you still going to write more on your Tibette stories?

    8. Nice start… we have not really seen any flash backs in the actual show of Tina and Bette other than very quickly when they met… It would have been nice to see what the 8 years had really been like for both of them. So your version of that is excellent,I am looking forward to Sunday mornings now :-)

    9. Im loving this, season 5 was the best and anything written about it is just awesome. Oh and that pool scene was nice especially seeing little Angelica
