    Fallin’ PART 1 of 2

    Fallin’
Tina Kennard pulled the girl tenderly against her, in a tight hug, before she placed her carefully on one hip, making her way downstairs. The little girl, who had only moment before woken up, began to rub her eyes with the tiny knuckles, and Tina smiled as she caught her daughter’s gesture, placing a soft kiss on her forehead. It was striking how much Angelica looked like Bette, in appearance but also in those little things… How many times hadn’t she seen her ex wake up like that, stretching her arms in exactly the same way? The blonde sighed, and halted for a moment, breathing in quivery. Catching her own image in the mirror in the hallway, she averted her eyes quickly, and shook her head.

    What was wrong with her?

Why did every thought about Bette slice through her soul like a blunt knife?

Especially after what had happened last night? Shouldn’t she be happy? Shouldn’t her smile be as wide as…? God, why did she think about that day now so long ago where Shane had told then they gave her hope? And when would she stop to think in terms of Bette and her as ‘us’? She was fucking incorrigible!

Annoyed by the flow of her own thoughts, Tina determindly crossed the room, causing Angie, who was still on her hip, to look at her mother with what could have been explained as worry in her eyes. As her blonde mother tuned in the radio, searching for something that would distract her, the girl carefully placed the palm of her hand against the soft skin of her cheek. The tender stroke of her daughter caused a smile to break through on Tina’s face, and with a look of slight disbelieve she stared at her little girl, who seemed to sense so well what it was she needed.

As the eyes met, the hazel and the chocolate brown, Tina smiled, knowing that, especially with Angie so close, the chances of not thinking about Bette were less than zero.

The ringing of the phone caused her to turn down the music

Why did her heart jump up?

It wouldn’t be her… She was in Big Bear…
