Chapter 43: Lying is not an option (Work on the documentary continues and Tina tries again to tell Bette about Christina)

(Previously) Julie walked in and saw Tina sitting on the bed, crying and Bette was comforting her.

“Tina, I’m so sorry. I don’t know what came over me…Bette, I’m sorry, too, for being so inconsiderate and rude. I can see that you love Tina very much and…and I’m really happy for you both,” she said, kneeling before her sister. “Please, forgive me…I don’t want to lose you. Give me time to work with my feelings about this situation. I want you here but know that it will take me some time to understand this. You are my only family and with grandma being so ill…I’m so sorry…are we sisters again?”

Tina wrapped her arms around Julie and hugged her tight, “Of course, we are sisters…I love you, Jules…I love you.”

They were holding each other, crying hard for their parents, for the years they spent apart from each other, just crying. Bette quietly left the room, giving them time to reconnect.

She went back to the porch and looked up into the sky, offering a silent prayer of gratitude for love, forgiveness and family bonds.

    “Happy New Year!!!”

Their flight back home was filled with silence. Tina was going over the events of the weekend in her mind, thinking about Julie who was still struggling to accept Tina’s sexuality. She was also pondering about grandma Kennard and the strange message that she delivered about the paintings and Bette’s diary.

Tina glanced at Bette who was sitting quietly next to her with her eyes closed. She appeared asleep or at least dozing off but Tina knew that Bette wasn’t doing either. She had a concentrated and somewhat confused look on her face and it could only mean one thing. Bette was anxiously thinking about something that troubled or puzzled her.

Tina touched Bette’s cheek really gently so she wouldn’t startle her. Bette’s eyes flew wide open and she looked at Tina with a weary smile.

“What are you thinking about, baby?” Tina asked softly, noticing a perplexed look in Bette’s eyes and the fatigue in her features.

    1. Yay you’re back! I was wondering what happened to you. I usually don’t PM the writers because I don’t want to pester them but I can make an exception for you. LOL.

    2. I enjoy this story a lot. But I think I need to re-read it b/c I think I missed something major…I have no idea what Tina’s secret is. What does she need to tell Bette about Christina and why has she been hiding it?…lol, really love the story!
