A World Apart – (Chapter: 8- Chasing the Predator)

“So, are there any other problems you need me to take care of?” he asked jokingly. Although it was more of a joke than anything, me and Spencer exchanged a glance. The way she looked at me told me she didn’t want me to say anything. He must of saw the glances because he continued to ask “Is there anything I need to… take care of?” He now sounded intimately concerned.

“Well… there is this one thing?” I proceeded with caution. How I worded the next few sentences would affect many people’s lives.

“C’mon you can tell me anything. I’m a cop for Christ’s sake!” He wasn’t going to relent until he found out about whatever was bothering us, so I told him.

“Spencer has this step dad, who’s kind of… I don’t know…” then I was interrupted by Spencer.

“He’s abusive, OK?” she was near yelling. This was obviously still a tender subject for her.

“What?” Luke asked. “That can’t be legal.” At first I was reluctant to tell him about Ben, but now I can see that I won’t need to kill him. He’ll do life in solitary confinement after my lawyers are done with him. Not to mention what Luke will do to him if they catch him. Luke seemed to be really concerned with other peoples problems. Overall he was really caring and nice. Maybe he could help me take care of Ben.

“What can we do about him?” I asked hoping that Luke would give me an idea.

“Well…” he was deep in thought. After about 5 minutes of pure thinking, he had an idea. “We could always set him up. A police ‘sting’ so to speak.”

“He lives all the way over in LA…” it was a question, but it was true. He doesn’t work for the LAPD, he works here, in Minnesota.

“I would travel a long way to help a friend. Especially withy a problem as serious as this.”

“We’ll then, it looks like we’re traveling to LA!”

2 days later in LA, Spencer is wearing a wire about to go eat a meal with Ben and Paula, half the LAPD is outside the house, waiting to jump in if something were to happen

    3. hey it;s the writer here. tell me if you think I should stay writing stories and events like these, or should I spend more time focusing on the two girls. And if you think the second choice is better, I suck at writing about that stuff, so i’d need ideas.
