Ever the Same – (Chapter: Ch. 3: Trees, Monsters, and Swings. Oh, My!)

Spencer rolled out of bed and made her way to the locked door and was ready to yell at anyone standing there, but was stunned to see it was Ashley standing there with a cell phone held up to her ear with a smirk. Ashley kept the phone to her ear while saying ‘Mornin’, Beautiful,’ to Spencer, so she could hear it twice. Once hearing it straight from her, and the second time coming from the echo of the phone.

Spencer’s eyes widened and she slammed the door shut in Ashley’s face, followed by flipping her phone shut. She yelled at Ashley through the door saying that she practically scared the skin off of her, and that she should have called before stepping foot in the house, rather than while in the house, because she looked like shit from her going back to sleep. Ashley merely rolled her eyes and pushed open the door telling Spencer that she needed to get dressed, and she’d be waiting for her in the car.

Ashley didn’t tell any of the Carlin’s her plans, but vowed to have Spencer back at a decent time seeing as how they had school the next day.

“Out,” was all Ashley’s reply, much to the blonde’s disappointment.

    “Why won’t you tell me?”

“Why does it matter?” the brunette questioned her question as she kept her focus to the road.

“Uh, ‘cause I wanna know.” the blonde put on her best pout right as Ashley turned to look her way.

The brunette only rolled her eyes and turned her attention back to the road, “Baby,” Spencer blushed slightly at the pet name, “just trust me, okay?”

    The blonde sighed, “Fine.”

Spencer brought her knees up to her chest and rested her feet up on the dashboard, enjoying the silence…or not so much. She was tapping her fingers on her knees, anxiously, and was very fidgety. Silence and Spencer Carlin hadn’t gone hand in hand much since her meeting Ashley. She inwardly groaned and turned to look at Ashley who still had her full attention on the road.

“Are we there, yet?” the blonde asked, feeling like a small child.

Ashley turned her head to look at the blonde, quickly, while furrowing her brows, “And how old are you?”
