Ever the Same – (Chapter: Ch. 3: Trees, Monsters, and Swings. Oh, My!)
“Five.” Spencer retorted sarcastically.
Ashley let out a light chuckle, “Obviously, but could you please bring back my sixteen-year-old girlfriend? I’m pretty sure my dating a five-year-old is illegal.”
Spencer scoffed, “You do a lot of worse things; I doubt you’ll get caught this time.”
The brunette brought a hand to her chest and fake gasped, “Me? Do something illegal? I’m insulted!”
“Oh, please,” Spencer put on her ‘I’m about to school you’ face and continued, “You’re a minor with a tattoo on the small of her back, you’ve done drugs, drank alcohol, and not to mention how many people you’ve slept with. If that’s not illegal than my name is, uh, Batman?”
“Oh, my God! I love Batman! Wow! My girlfriend…Batman. Who knew?!” Ashley exclaimed with a laugh as Spencer put her head in her hands, “Okay, seriously though, you’re right. Except for the last because I am almost positive that that’s not illegal.”
“Whatever,” Spencer let out a heavy breath and she brought her feet from the dashboard sitting normal, once again. “Mind if I turn on some tunes?”
“Not at all.”
Spencer reached for the knob to turn the radio on, but stopped in thought.
“Hmm, hey, Ash, you know what we need?”
“Uhhhh, a vi-”
“Don’t even!” Spencer cut her off, frantically. “Pervert.” she added with a disgusted tone.
Ashley laughed in response, “Worth a shot. So, what do we need?”
“A song.”
Ashley shot the blonde a quick, confused stare, “Uh, I agree? Turn on the damn radio, already, then.”
Spencer sighed, “No, I mean, like, you know.”
“’Fraid not…” the brunette trailed off, still lost.
“Ugh, how can I explain this without sounding completely cornball? Hmm, I guess I can’t.”
“The suspense is killing me, Spence…really.”
The blonde glared at the brunette, “Shut up. Okay, so, a song. For us, like…as a couple.”
“Oh! I get it…why?”
Spencer looked down, “I don’t know. I guess, I just always thought it was a cute idea. Besides when we’re apart or something we can listen to the song and think about each other.”
“You’re right. That does sound lame.” Ashley winced from a sharp blow to her side, “Ow! Jeez, you really need to stop punching me! I swear; I’ll file for abuse!”
