    Why are you on the floor?

               

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Ashley managed to fall asleep about an hour later. Spencer crept off of the bed and looked down at her, watching her sleep. All of the anger was wiped off of her face and for a moment she was just Ashley; the same girl as two years before, with her curly brown hair and perfect lips and skin. Spencer smiled and laid down on the floor next to her. Ashley had lied. The floor was not comfortable. Inch by inch she scooted closer to Ashley and finally stopped when their bodies were barely touching.

               

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    “Ashley, I know you don’t believe me now, but I promise you I’d wait forever if it meant we got to be together, and I’ll prove it to you somehow.” Spencer whispered gently against Ashley’s neck as she herself drifted into a deep dreamless sleep. Ashley smiled, she’d been awake the whole time.

               

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Morning came quickly and Spencer awoke on the floor covered in the blanket. She was alone and there was no sign of Ashley anywhere in the room. There were sounds coming from the kitchen and she could hear everyone’s voices. She pulled herself up, the rough carpet brushing against her arms and legs like sandpaper. Spencer walked into the closet and pulled out a pair of khakis and a nice shirt to wear for the day. After she showered and got dressed, she emerged from the room and ran right into Ashley.

               

     

     

     

     

     

    “Oh hey Bigfoot watch where you’re going!” The other girl joked. Spencer raised an eyebrow and smiled.

               

     

     

     

     

     

     

    “Who are you calling Bigfoot? I wear a size seven and a half thank you, that’s average,” Spencer replied. Madison came careening around the corner quickly and interrupted them before the teasing could grow any more.

               

     

     

     

     

     

     

    “Girls, we need to be at brunch within fifteen minutes. Ashley are you really wearing that or are you just trying to upset me on a very busy day?!” Spencer glanced at Ashley quickly again to notice that the girl was wearing a very short skirt and a black shirt that cut off about an inch above her navel. Spencer hid a smile behind her hand and waited for Ashley to reply.
