From the Beginning – (Chapter: Chapter 17: No Place Like Home)

Clay could hardly handle any further suspense, but he knew he had to let her do this on her own terms.

Spencer looked him straight in the eyes. "I’m gay."

The words echoed around her in the room. Spencer was anticipating the worst.

Clay hugged her into him. "I thought that might be what you wanted to talk to me about, Spence."

She pulled back, a look of shock crossing her face.

"Don’t be so surprised little sis. I can see the way you look at Ashley."

Spencer started to smile. She could feel a release as the lump in her throat dissolved.

"But…" Spencer stammered, she didn’t know Clay had even been paying attention to how much time they were spending together, nevermind noticing a look between them.

"She looks at you the same way Spence. I know you. It wasn’t that hard to tell."

"Clay, I’m just so confused. Now Glen knows, Madison told him she caught us kissing this morning."

"Spencer it’s going to be alright." Glen shooshed her sobs, now overwhelming her words.

"What are you going to do about mom and dad?"

Spencer sniffed, "I thought I would talk to dad when he got home from work tonight. I don’t know what to do about mom though, I was kinda hoping dad would break it to her… She’s not going to accept this is she Clay?"

"You don’t know that Spence. Even if she doesn’t take it well at first or understand, she will." Clay smiled, brushing the hair from Spencer’s eyes.

"I’m glad we had this talk Clay, I feel a lot better." The door opened and Arthur made his appearance known to them.

    "Feel better about what?"

Clay slowly stood from the sofa, "I guess that’s my cue."

Spencer rushed to compose herself. "I was hoping we could have that talk you were wanting."

Arthur removed his suit jacket and laid it on the back of the couch.

"C’mon honey, lets go into my office where we won’t be interupted."

Spencer followed him into the small room he had claimed as his office. She felt a little strange in these surroundings, more like she was talking to a councillor than her father.

Arthur put his arm around his daughter as they sat together on the love seat.

    1. I was so glad to hear Arthur tell Paula to shut the fuck up! It’s about time someone told her shut that judgmental pie hole! I’m so glad that Spencer and Ashley will be living together…I love where this story is going. PMS
