Home less or more – (Chapter: Chapter 2: Tough Kid)

"I think she’s hurt." I finally said starting to get all the layers of cloth off her.

"Who is she?" he asked the one question I feared most. But the answer was clear now.

"Someone who needs our help."  I finally got to the last scrap and as I lifted her shirt I could see blood.

"We have to take her to the hospital!" he said getting his keys.

"No!" I said a bit too harshly. "She said no hospitals." I soften a bit, But she’s hurt… "Go get my mother as fast as you can!" I said and he was out the door in seconds wearing only a coat over his pajamas.

As I looked closely I could tell she was shoot it was on the right side of her stomach. She was pale from the loss of blood. Why did she come to me? Who is she? I heard a whimper.

"I got to get you into a bed." I tried lifting her and was surprised at how light she was.

Once in our bed I got her out of most of her cloth. She was now wearing only one pair of jeans and a T shirt. The moment I noticed the shirt I inhaled sharply. Reef Davies was written in bloody red letters over the black shirt.

"Oh my god…" I moved the brown messy hair from her face. "Ashley is that you?"

I had to move away from her… so many feeling rose up. It was overwhelming. Ashley?! Ashley Davies!? A murmur brought me back to reality. She was uneasy. "No hosp… no…" I could make out.

"Shhhh Ashley it’s o.k. I won’t take you to a hospital I promise. My mom is on her way, she’ll help us."  Us?

As minutes passed like hours I found myself starring at her… she was so small and pale, not at all like I remembered. Her face was colored with black and dirt. I should clean her a bit to make her more comfortable, I thought.

I used a wet cloth to clean her face. Little by little I could see a trace of the girl I used to know. As I got to her neck I suddenly noticed my wildly beating heart and stopped my ministration abruptly. I didn’t have much time to think about it as the door was opened behind me.

    1. This intrigues me. For now I can only say that I like how you have this starting from a place that isn’t often used in stories so I applaud you for that. PMASAP ^_^
