    Being called into active duty.

    As I dressed Ashley just sat on the bed patently and watched me. I put on my camo cargos and my tan t-shirt. I brushed my hair back into a bun and took out my earrings. I sat down on the bed next to her so that I could put on my boots. I slid them on, tucking the bottom of my pants down into them and then lacing them up all the way. I realized that I was missing one thing, my dog tags. I looked over at Ashley, she still had them on, “Ash…um…I need…my dog tags.”

    Her right hand traveled up to the object around her neck and she gripped them. Finally she slid them up and over her head, handing them to me. I put them on and stood up, “So, how are we going to spend this day?”

    “I don’t know Spencer.”

    I got a thought, “I do.”

    “What?”

    “Come with me.”

    We got into my car and drove to King High school. I wanted today to reflect where we had been and where we were going. I left Ashley in the car as I went to the office to receive clearance to walk the school campus. The staff members remembered me and easily granted me access. I walked back out to the car, “Alright Ash, let’s go.”

    “Spence, what the hell are we doing back at King High school?”

    “It’s something that I wanted to do. I wanted to show you who we were.”

    I walked us up to Ashley’s old locker, “Do you remember my first day at King High? You were standing right here with a cup of coffee in your hand and you had obviously had a bad morning?’

    A slight smirk broke though, “I do. You asked me where science lab three was. I opened my locker and spilled my coffee all over myself. Then I bit your head off.”

    I laughed, “Pretty much.”

    We went the whole day there, just going to various spots and remembering the good times that we had had. It was amazing how many memories were made in two years. She seemed happier. But I knew that it wouldn’t last long. The moment that I had to drive to Irwin her demeanor would completely change.

    3. People drive me crazy sometimes with their lack of communication. Why couldn’t they just be honest with each other about their feelings? If they had, they could have spent those few weeks after Spencer came back form boot camp together doing…coupley things. But as you said, no Spashley for a while. *pouts* I’ll quit pouting if you update soon.
