    Author Notes:

    The world caved in around me.

     

                I nervously scan the crowd.  I am not sure if I really want to find her, because that means that I will have to go through with this.  Then it happens, the moment I have feared and hoped would happen again for the last five years.  I spot her.

    She is leaning with her back against the bar holding her trademark vodka and cranberry.  She is wearing a sleeveless black turtleneck with low riding pinstriped black pants and her curly brown locks fall so beautifully around her face.

               

                It happens kind of like how it would in a movie.  There is a sharp intake of breath, the music fades out, the whole room goes into slow motion, and I feel myself floating toward her.  I always did gravitate to her through a force stronger than my control.  She looks gorgeous.  My eyes scan her image into memory, taking in every detail, outlining her figure.  She has not yet seen me as she begins laughing so hard at something that she has to dab at a tear that might have fallen from the corner of her eye.  I look for the source and as I spot her, the world begins to cave in around me.  I feel small.  It feels like she is a thousand miles away again. A small blonde is walking up to her.  She puts her arm on the bar behind Ashley’s back and leans in really close to her neck.  Ashley puts her arm low around her waist and pulls her in for a kiss.  It is obvious they had been pretty intimate for some time.  Just then the blonde positions herself directly in front of Ashley and leans into her ear.  The mischievous grin that forms across her face tells me exactly what is being said.  My panic attack is now in full force.  I think my head has actually detached, because I don’t think I am in the same place as the rest of my body.  I cannot inhale and I can feel my heart beat in my throat.  Of all the scenarios I have gone over in my head, the most obvious should have been that she might be there with someone.  But I am not prepared for what I see.  I have to get out of here, but I can’t; my feet are submerged in buckets of cement.  I feel paralyzed.  I cannot move a muscle.  Then it gets worse!  She looks up.  She looks straight at me.  Right now, there is no one else on the planet with us.  Her hands limply fall to her sides and the drink she is holding hits the floor with a crash that is vacuumed into the noise of the club.  She does not break eye contact and her face drains of all color.  The girl she is with looks on in concern trying to break her trance.  She follows the path of Ashley’s eyes until she finds their target.  I must be equally wide eyed and pale.

Here I am reading this from the very beginning and when I got to the end of this chapter I thought to myself, “Dang thank goodness I don’t have to wait to find out what happens” thinking that there was more already posted. WRONG! Now I am VERY anxiously waiting to see what happens and who that person is! And Spencer…go slap that barbie bitch!!!!
