“It’s alright,” I stated, leading her through to the kitchen where I swiftly downed the rest of my Corona before grabbing a new one from the fridge. I didn’t offer her one, and she didn’t ask for anything. “I was actually just about to eat.”
“Oh, I’m sorry,” she said out of politeness, not because she meant it. It wasn’t like she was going to leave me in peace to eat my meal. I knew she’d watch me devour it, and just as I finished it and was preparing to digest it she’d no doubt pull some stunt that’d have me feeling as sick as I had done earlier that day. I considered leaving my food until she’d said her piece and left, but changed my mind, not wanting it to look like I was changing my routine to suit her. I grabbed a fork from the draining board and ate straight from the plastic tub as she watched me closely. I caught her eye several times, and she responded by looking away.
“Why are you here?” I eventually asked with a mouth full of food after her silence was beginning to frustrate me. Fortunately Nina was still happily singing away, and provided a much needed distraction from how worked up I was getting as the long the minutes in her presence dragged on. She flinched slightly at my tone, but quickly covered by clearing her throat to speak.
“I wanted to see you – properly – before I start next week,” she informed me.
“You saw me earlier,” I reminded her, licking my fork clean before dumping my empty lasagne tray in the bin. I threw my fork in the sink and sat back down at the bar opposite her.
“Yeah, well, you were… busy,” she stumbled over her words. “I thought it’d be a good idea to try to talk to you again, about… things.”
“Things?” I asked, deliberately being awkward. If she couldn’t talk openly about what she was thinking or feeling, then I couldn’t be arsed to listen. And she could never talk openly, so I already knew that her coming over was futile.
“Us,” she clarified, yet simultaneously clarifying nothing. She just confused everything.
“There never was an us,” I reminded her, spinning the bottle of Corona where it stood on the table between us in my hand. Her eyes were drawn to it too, as we both tried to find something that would take our attention from each other.

Wow. Now we know why Ash is pissed. I would be too if the person I was falling in love with did that to me. Update soon, would ya? I’m ready for some more “project new girl”. :] Woot. And I think there might just be more behind the story then what is at first revealed. Hmm?
Oh I so love the way that this is written. I was glued to my screen taking in every word and every phrase. This is a great story. Great work. PMS.
shut up! how could spencer do that?! ughhh. poor ashley :-(. this is like..the only time i feel bad for her lol. cuz honestly, after the season finale i feel no remorse towards her. well…i say that now cuz i dont know whats going to come about in season 3 haha buuut…still. great update! cant wait for more!

I fall to my knees and prostrate myself thus. I adore you and if you post again soon, I might consider not gnawing off my left hand.
