Spencer’s POV.

Today was Aiden’s fifth birthday.  Five whole years he’d been living.  Spencer thought about all those times.  The first time he called her mom was the best day of her life.  Taking his pacifier away from him was a complete nightmare.  Aiden loved music.  This made Spencer happy because she woked at a record company, and she also loved music.  Aiden had a quick temper though.  Spencer wondered where this came form, and she found herself thinking about his birth mother from time to time.  Every so often she would pull out the picture when these thoughts crossed her mind.

"Mom." Aiden yelled from the hallway.  He’d be starting kindergarden in two weeks.

"Yes, hunny?"  She said walking into his room.

"When are the presents going to get here?"  He asked.

"Your guest are going to be here in an hour.  Now, please pretend like you care about something other than presents."  She smiled at him.

"Yes mam."  He said as he played with his trucks.

"That’s my boy."  She walked back into the living room to get everything ready for his birthday party.

The birthday party ended around six that night, and Spencer was exhausted.  She sat in the living room while Aiden was playing with all his new toys.  The birthday party consisted of about ten more little boys and their parents.  All the parents wanted to set Spencer up with a friend, sister, or co-worker.  Spencer turned them all down.

She’d dated one person since she adopted Aiden.  Her name was Mandy.  If you’d ever asked for a perfect person, it was her.  She helped Spencer with Aiden, and she loved him like he was her own child.  She loved Spencer too.  They’d spend hours just talking or making love.  They’d been together for three years when Mandy asked Spencer to marry her.  It was beautiful.  She asked at the beach under the stars.  It was perfect, but Spencer said no.  She’d been questioning her relationship with Mandy for some time now.  She loved Mandy, but she wasn’t sure if she was in love with her.  They tried to continue dating, but Mandy ended up not seeing the point in it.  Spencer broke her heart, and she knew it.  Little Aiden even ask about her from time to time.  Spencer felt bad, but she knew it was for the better.  As she thought about this, she pulled out the picture of that gorgeous brunette from the folder.
