“HI.” I said loudly from down the walk.  She whipped around to look down the pathway.  I watched the sad look on her face dissipate into a radiant smile.

“OH!….Hi.  What are you doing out here?”  She asked walking down to me.  She wrapped me in a hug.  Everything about this girl felt so right to me.

Spencer’s POV

I woke up groggily.  I could still smell Ashley’s skin on my pillow, on my bed, on me.  I smiled relishing my replay of last night. I rolled over fully expecting to see her sleeping beside me, but was surprised to find nothing. 

“Ash?” I called out and sat up quickly in bed.  There was no response.

 I went downstairs thinking she might be in the bathroom, but found nothing.  My high from last night came crashing down.  I was kind of surprised that she would leave with out waking me.  I was pretty sure that we both agreed we didn’t want that kind of relationship.  Maybe I had already let myself become too wrapped up in her.

I ran back up stairs to my phone and dialed her number.  It rang a few times before she answered.

“Spencer?” Ashley answered.

“Hey Ashley.”  I replied quietly. “So…uh are you ok?  I mean I just was kind of wondering why you left this morning.  Did I say something wrong?  I was just under the impression…I guess…well that you would be here this morning and I wa…..”

“Spence…calm down.” She replied cutting me off. “Open your front door please.” 

“Right now?” I answered confused. “I don’t have a shirt on.  Besides I would really like you to tell me why you left this morn….”

“Spence, please just open the door, and I would suggest definitely putting a shirt on before you do.” Ashley said interrupting me again.  I was still hurt and confused.

 I could see out the half window in my front door and she wasn’t standing out there so I didn’t understand.  I opened the door and squinted in the sunlight as I stepped out.  I notice that the phone call ended.  Great now she is hanging up on me I thought.
