“God Spence please say something you’re killing me here” Ashley pleaded.

“YES!” I blurted quickly. “Yes I feel the same and yes I would love it to be just you and I and yes you are the most amazing person I have ever met and so just…YES.” I finished quickly before pulling her into a kiss.  I pulled away from her and heard clapping and cheers.  I was a little embarrassed to be front and center.  Ashley was beaming.

“Ok hold on just a sec.  I will be right back.” She said and sprinted back up to the stage.

The crowd was whistling and cheering loudly as she grabbed the mic.

“Thank you!  The intimidation factor worked and I actually have her convinced to be my girlfriend.”  Ashley said laughing.  “I am going to turn you back over to Margaret and Tara for the last bit of the show.  Have a great night!”  The crowd cheered wildly as Ashley walked off stage.

Margaret took over the mic. “I told you guys that you wouldn’t be disappointed.  How fuckin’ cool was that Wonderin’ version!?!” She said to the audience.  “So after that happy ending how about we play a little song called Make you Mine!”  The crowd was amped up and yelled their approval.

Ashley slid into the booth next to me.  I shook my head and smiled at her.  She leaned close to me so I could hear her over the music.

“Was it too much?” She asked a little concerned.

“It was beautiful.’ I said sincerely. “You could have passed me a note that said ‘Will you be my girlfriend.  Check Yes or No’ and my answer would have been the same.  You didn’t have to go through all the trouble.”

“That’s the thing Spence.  It was no trouble at all.  I wanted to do it and I wanted everyone to know how much I really, really….really like you.”  Ashley whispered in my ear. 

I pulled her in for a kiss.  We have had lots of kisses.  Intense and deep, slow and sensual, hard and fast, but this one was new.  It was all those things wrapped into one plus a new feeling of comfort. We were right where we wanted to be.

I pulled back slowly.  “So what took you so long?” I asked with a teasing smile.

“Oh, whatever!  You could have asked me you know?” She said laughing.

“Yeah but I wouldn’t have done it nearly as cool as you did.  I probably would have written a note!” I joked.

She picked up the piece of paper that had the note she had sent with my water.  She flipped it over and pulled a pen out of her back pocket.  “That would have been my answer.” She said handing to me.  I looked at it and there was a box with a check mark in it with the word Yes written next to it.  I smiled up at her.  She always seemed to know the right way to make me feel amazing.

“Are you always this sweet Ashley Davies?” I whispered.  She looked in my eyes and answered honestly.

“No and when we have days where you think I am a huge asshole just pull out this note and remember that I really and honestly do like you and whatever I did, I didn’t mean it.” She said sincerely.  I smiled at her….God, how did I get so lucky.

“Ok ladies and gents.  We are going to wrap this shin dig up with a song for all the couples old AND new!” Margaret said looking our way as she and Tara started in on How Long. 

“Come dance with me” Ashley whispered as she took my hand pulling me to the dance floor.  She pulled me close to her and we swayed to the music.  She fit perfectly into me and I into her.  It was so slow and sexy and I couldn’t think of a better way to be dancing with Ashley at this moment.
