“Look…I am sorry. Things have just been a roller coaster for me this past year.” Jena said softly and reaching back out for my hand. I pulled it away from her gently. I was tired of her emotional yo-yo that kept pushing and pulling me away.
The look in her eyes showed the pain and turmoil she was going through. I was always the nice guy. I always wanted to help and never wanted to kick when people were down. Jena was down big time. There was so much history between her, Kaylen and I. But I wasn’t in the position, nor did I have the desire to give Jena what she wanted back from me.
“Fuck, Jena. Why don’t you talk to me any more? What is going on in that head of yours? I never wanted to choose between you and my best friend. Can’t you understand that I love both of you?” Kaylen said hoarsly as tears rolled down her cheeks. “I haven’t seen you in almost a year and this isn’t what I wanted to happen when you came back.”
“I know Kaylen…I fucked up badly. I was just got so jealous of what you and Spencer have. I let it infect me.” Jena whispered.
I fell a large pit of anxiety forming in my stomach as I realized that I was the source of turmoil between to two people I cared so much about .
Ashley released Kaylen’s arms realizing that most of the intensity had passed. The twins walked to each other for a hug.
“I think we should leave Ash.” I said reaching for her hand. Ashley didn’t need any convincing she wanted out of this crazy scene as much as I did.
I gave Kaylen a hug. “I know this is a crazy spot for you. Thank you so much for being an amazing friend. You and Jena have so much to talk about. I obviously have a lot of talking to do to.” I said motioning to Ashley.
Kaylen nodded. “I will talk with you soon too, ok Spencer. I am still your friend no matter what!”
“I know Kaylen…me too.”
I started to walk away when I hear Jena call after me.
“Spencer!”
I reluctantly turned to her. I saw in her eyes what she wanted to ask. I griped Ashley’s hand tighter and she returned the squeeze.
“Jena….don’t do this. I just can’t right now Maybe when things cool down in a couple of weeks.” I said feeling my throat ache and burn with emotion.
She nodded tears brimming in her eyes. “I understand…"
Fuck…I was catching glimpses of the girl I had fallen in love with 2 1/2 years go. She was in there somewhere.
My mind and heart struggle was just beginning.

Twins? What an interesting twist to have a best friend that looks like the woman you once loved, now that is bizarre. I hope Spencer’s old feelings don’t get in the way of her relationship with Ashley. This doesn’t look good. oh the drama!!! Your writing never ceases to amaze me! PMS

hey everyone! thanks for the great comments! i love the questions too because it shows you are really picking up the little details in the writing. Like Az asked…Why the heck didn’t Ashley think Jena was Kaylen? Maybe she did…but sometimes you just get stuck in a whirlwind situation and all reasonable thoughts leave you. Why the heck is spencer still hanging out with someone that that looks just like the girl that wrecked her? Does she hang out with Kaylen because they are truely friends or because Spencer can’t go? OH SO MANY QUESTIONS!! Hmmm the next post may answer some of this…ashspencefan…i couldn’t agree with you more…those ex’s are definitely ex’s for a reason!You guys rock!!
