The Princess and The Puppet – (Chapter: Confessions)

    CHAPTER FORTY THREE

    ASHLEY’S POV:

It’s been four weeks since Spencer told me she needed space. I haven’t tried to send her any more flowers or anything like that. I haven’t talked to her either. I took what she said seriously, so I don’t want to bother her. Even though I haven’t talked to Spencer I still think about her everyday. Actually every second. Sometimes I think about how I could make things right with her, but then I remind myself she wants her space, and maybe that’s the best thing I can do for her.

She still sits in the back in history. Which means I was still sitting next to guy who smells like a fat guy’s armpit on a sunny day. One day I just couldn’t take it anymore. I told him if he didn’t start bathing I was going to hose his ass down with a can of air freshener. I felt bad after I said it, so the next day I brought him some deodorant with a nice red bow on it. We started talking and he’s a pretty nice guy.

Last week Mr. Barker assigned us all a five page report on World War II. We could write about anything that had significance to the war. Since he wants us to have a lot of facts in our paper he brought us to the library today so we could start on our research.

The class is scattered throughout the library, everyone looking for a book that fits their subject. I’m scanning the bookshelves for a book on Eva Braun. I find a book that might have some useful information and reach for it, and realize someone else is reaching for the same book. I look up and see Spencer standing right next to me.

Ashley: Sorry. Go ahead. ( tries to hand Spencer the book.)

Spencer: No it’s okay, you had it first.

Ashley: No you can have it. I’ll find it when you’re finished.

Ashley offers the book to Spencer again and this time Spencer takes it.

Spencer: Thanks. I’ll let you know when I’m done with it.

There is a short silence between the two.

    Ashley: How have you been?

    Spencer: Good. You?
