    Ashley laughed, coughing quietly. “Hey, I’m still standing here.” Rolling his eyes, Clay kissed her on the cheek. “Like that’s EVER stopped you and Spence.” Chelsea gently pressed her lips against her daughter’s nose, whispering. “Bye baby girl. Momma loves you.” Clay bent kissing Lei’s curls. “See you Monday, angel.” Ashley walked outside with them and watched waving as they pulled out of the driveway. When she could no longer see the car, she headed back inside turning off lights as she walked down the hallway. She smells so good. Smiling, Ashley pressed her face against the baby’s soft hair, kissing her again. Standing in the doorway, she paused, studying her sleeping wife. Spencer was curled up in a tight ball, her back to the door snoring lightly. Placing Lei down on her pillow, Ashley climbed in beside the baby, pulling the comforter up to cover her small legs. After glancing at her wife worriedly, she closed her eyes sighing. What’s done is done.

     

    Spencer yawned, slowly blinking her eyes open. Something woke me up. She froze mid-stretch when a low whimper sounded again. Turning over, she pushed her hair back from her forehead. Gasping, Spencer shot off the bed, her widened eyes staring at the small child in her wife’s arms. “ASHLEY!” She watched struggling to breathe as Lei’s eyes opened, staring at her. Almost hysterical, Spencer screamed again. “ASHLEY!” The baby’s face scrunched up as she exploded, her high pitch cry finally waking the brunette. “Jesus Christ!” Ashley rubbed Lei’s tummy, cooing to her softly, “Its okay…come on baby, its okay…shh…”  When the girl finally quieted, Ashley turned to look at her wife.

     

    Spencer stood in the middle of the bedroom with her eyes squeezed shut, arms wrapped tightly around her shaking body. Ashley stood slowly, moving towards her wife. Using her thumb, she gently caressed Spencer’s face before kissing her eyes open. “What is she doing here?” Ashley shuddered at Spencer’s breathy, monotone whisper. She looked at her wife, trying her best to smile. “Clay and Chels needed some alone time…so I told them we’d watch Lei this weekend.”  Shaking her head, Spencer backed away from her wife, her voice unconsciously rising. “She can’t stay here…I can’t…Ash…she can’t…” Ashley wrapped her arms around her wife and began rubbing her back. “It’s okay baby. You don’t have to do anything. I’ll take care of her…I promise.”

    1. Past Story Explanation:I’m commenting to hopefully, help those who still do not understand what is going on. In this section we see that Spencer is beginning to get over her depression, but Ashley is scared and very worried about her wife. She decides to take matters into her own hands and tells Clay and Chelsea (without informing Spencer) that they will watch Lei while they go out of town for the weekend. During this time with the baby, Spencer realizes that she still wants to try to have childen…even if she can’t do it exactly the way she wants. In previous chapters, Ashley mentions that she has been undergoing fertility treatments. Basically, she is being given medicine to increase production of her eggs. In one of the past scenes in this section we see that they were able to retrieve several from her body. Spencer is unable to produce eggs on her own, so she has one of Ashley’s implanted in her and well…you get the rest. Hopefully, that clears things up. I started to add the scene where Spencer was implanted, but I couldn’t quite get it right in my head…I guess in retrospect, that might have made things much easier to understand….sorry.Current Story Explanation:Ashley was forcibly removed from the operating room where Spencer is still being worked with. She is not dead. They just needed Ashley to leave so that they could concentrate on her wife. Keep in mind that in the current day story only a few minutes have passed. Ashley and Sara have just left Spencer and are walking back towards the waiting room.

    3. Well I am not sure if you want to hear my thoughts on this but I can’t help but tell you. You truly are an amazing artist and I want to thank you for sharing your talents. I loved the fact that Spence is showing such courage and love to have a child, that is special in it’s own right. I love the fact that Ashley was able to take her out of her depression by showing her that she is there for her and she is so willing to be a mom right beside her. T you are amazing and my feeling for you will never change. Thank you for sharing with all of us your love for writing. You will always be incrediable to me! Thank you!

    21. I totally understand what’s going on. I love it when you update. This is heartbreaking. I’m too sad for words after reading this. The song kinda worries me because I think it foreshadows something I’m terrified to read. If if it does I might just die. So kill me if you want. Anyway loved it update soon.
