    I’m gonna knock your socks off. You’ll see, oh yeah…

     

    Lifting the baby into the air, Ashley kissed her forehead. “I got you!” Lei clapped, kicking her legs out. Placing her back on the floor, Ashley waited a few moments for the baby to crawl away before trailing her on her knees. “I’m gonna get you…here I come!” Lei looked over her shoulder grinning, her eyes sparkling brightly. Ashley caught the laughing baby again. Spencer sat down on the floor a few feet away from her wife. Neither woman said anything as Ashley placed the wiggling baby back down. Lei smiled at Spencer before puffing her cheeks out, making spitting noises. For the first time in months, Ashley watched her wife laugh. Eye brimming they stared at each other silently, smiling. Crawling to her wife, Spencer placed her hand on Ashley’s chin, pulling her into a soft kiss. A loud “BAH!” interrupted them. Small hands pulled at Ashley’s shirt. Helping the baby girl stand wobbly, Ashley laughed when she opened her mouth pressing it wetly against her nose. “Ewww!” Laughing, Spencer joined in kissing Ashley’s cheek. “No fair babe, you get all the wub.” 

     

    Ashley hummed as she approached the nursery immediately recognizing the song playing softly. Spencer danced in the moonlight, whispering to the baby she held in her arms. Swaying, she turned slowly finally seeing her wife. Holding out her hand, Spencer smiled. Pulling it to her mouth, Ashley kissed each finger before wrapping her arms around Spencer’s waist. Using her nose, she brushed her wife’s shoulder burying her face in golden strands. They moved together, Ashley pressing her lips against Spencer’s ear quietly singing along.

     

    We were born before the wind

    Also younger than the sun

    Ere the bonnie boat was won as we sailed into the mystic

    Hark, now hear the sailors cry

    Smell the sea and feel the sky

    Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic

     

    Spencer walked them over to the crib. Gently placing Lei on her back, she pulled up the thin blanket, covering her. Smiling, Spencer leaned her head back against her wife’s face feeling Ashley’s arms tighten around her. They watched Lei’s mouth open, a small almost inaudible sigh escaping her. Turning, Spencer captured her wife’s lips in hers. The kiss quickly deepened when Ashley untangled her hand pushing it against Spencer’s neck, pulling her closer. Watering blue eyes met hers. “Ash…I’m sorry…” Using her fingertips, Ashley caressed smooth skin, smiling as her index finger lightly pressed into her wife’s lips. “I love you.” Pressing her forehead against Ashley’s, Spencer closed her eyes. They walked slowly down the hallway, holding hands, shoulders brushing lightly. Sitting on the side of the bed, Spencer traced her wife’s arms, rubbing her hands along tanned flesh. Looking up into Ashley’s unsure eyes, she whispered. “Help me to breathe.”

    1. Past Story Explanation:I’m commenting to hopefully, help those who still do not understand what is going on. In this section we see that Spencer is beginning to get over her depression, but Ashley is scared and very worried about her wife. She decides to take matters into her own hands and tells Clay and Chelsea (without informing Spencer) that they will watch Lei while they go out of town for the weekend. During this time with the baby, Spencer realizes that she still wants to try to have childen…even if she can’t do it exactly the way she wants. In previous chapters, Ashley mentions that she has been undergoing fertility treatments. Basically, she is being given medicine to increase production of her eggs. In one of the past scenes in this section we see that they were able to retrieve several from her body. Spencer is unable to produce eggs on her own, so she has one of Ashley’s implanted in her and well…you get the rest. Hopefully, that clears things up. I started to add the scene where Spencer was implanted, but I couldn’t quite get it right in my head…I guess in retrospect, that might have made things much easier to understand….sorry.Current Story Explanation:Ashley was forcibly removed from the operating room where Spencer is still being worked with. She is not dead. They just needed Ashley to leave so that they could concentrate on her wife. Keep in mind that in the current day story only a few minutes have passed. Ashley and Sara have just left Spencer and are walking back towards the waiting room.

    3. Well I am not sure if you want to hear my thoughts on this but I can’t help but tell you. You truly are an amazing artist and I want to thank you for sharing your talents. I loved the fact that Spence is showing such courage and love to have a child, that is special in it’s own right. I love the fact that Ashley was able to take her out of her depression by showing her that she is there for her and she is so willing to be a mom right beside her. T you are amazing and my feeling for you will never change. Thank you for sharing with all of us your love for writing. You will always be incrediable to me! Thank you!

    21. I totally understand what’s going on. I love it when you update. This is heartbreaking. I’m too sad for words after reading this. The song kinda worries me because I think it foreshadows something I’m terrified to read. If if it does I might just die. So kill me if you want. Anyway loved it update soon.
