    The warm, welcoming smell of baking bread enveloped her as soon as the front door opened. Stomach grumbling loudly, Ashley smiled looking around the living room for her wife. “Babe?” Spencer’s voice sounded muffled. “I’m in the bathroom hon. Dinner’s almost ready. Can you check on the bread for me?” After a few seconds, Spencer yelled louder. “No snacking Ash!” Grinning mischievously, Ashley entered the kitchen, quietly attempting to open each pot. Spotting a large covered plate, she peeled back foil to reveal a small pyramid of brownies. Squealing happily, she glanced behind her making sure her wife was still nowhere in sight. Ashley tiptoed to the utensil drawer, quietly removing a sharp knife. Turning the plate slowly on the counter, she quickly identified the largest squares. Carefully, she cut a small rectangle from each brownie, humming happily as she stuffed each new piece into her mouth.

     

    “ASHLEY!” Her wife’s scream made her jump. Ashley turned around, cheeks swollen. Arching her eyebrows, she tried to look completely innocent. “Humpf?” Shaking her head, Spencer grabbed the knife from her wife’s hand, throwing it into the sink. “Did you even check the bread?” Ashley swallowed loudly, beaming at her wife. “I love you.” Handing her an oven mitt, Spencer silently pointed to the oven. She removed the large tray of crescent rolls, placing it on top of two of the stove’s burners. She stared at the bread, her brow furrowing. Ashley grinned as her fingertips traced each bread letter, her mind silently reading along. Her eyes shot up to her wife’s which were brighter then she could ever remember seeing them before. “Really?” Nodding, Spencer laughed, tears coursing down her face.

     

    Ashley picked her up, twirling her around in a circle before hugging her tightly. Spencer laughed, kissing her forehead, then her cheeks, and chin, until their lips met. Ashley glanced at the pan again, shaking her head at her wife. “You really are too cute for words sometimes…” Smiling innocently, Spencer sighed softly, “Well, its completely true Mrs. Davies…I do have a bun in my oven!”

    The room was almost dark. Faint moonlight straining through the thick curtains providing the only light. Ashley stood trembling in the manufactured twilight, the cool wood of the bedroom’s door pressed comfortingly against her back. Her breath hitched as she studied the gentle rise and fall of her wife’s chest, vainly attempting to memorize the moment. Ashley’s stinging eyes lingered on Spencer’s slightly swollen center before she slowly walked towards the bed finally pressing her forehead against soft skin, her lips almost brushing her wife’s stomach.

    1. Past Story Explanation:I’m commenting to hopefully, help those who still do not understand what is going on. In this section we see that Spencer is beginning to get over her depression, but Ashley is scared and very worried about her wife. She decides to take matters into her own hands and tells Clay and Chelsea (without informing Spencer) that they will watch Lei while they go out of town for the weekend. During this time with the baby, Spencer realizes that she still wants to try to have childen…even if she can’t do it exactly the way she wants. In previous chapters, Ashley mentions that she has been undergoing fertility treatments. Basically, she is being given medicine to increase production of her eggs. In one of the past scenes in this section we see that they were able to retrieve several from her body. Spencer is unable to produce eggs on her own, so she has one of Ashley’s implanted in her and well…you get the rest. Hopefully, that clears things up. I started to add the scene where Spencer was implanted, but I couldn’t quite get it right in my head…I guess in retrospect, that might have made things much easier to understand….sorry.Current Story Explanation:Ashley was forcibly removed from the operating room where Spencer is still being worked with. She is not dead. They just needed Ashley to leave so that they could concentrate on her wife. Keep in mind that in the current day story only a few minutes have passed. Ashley and Sara have just left Spencer and are walking back towards the waiting room.

    3. Well I am not sure if you want to hear my thoughts on this but I can’t help but tell you. You truly are an amazing artist and I want to thank you for sharing your talents. I loved the fact that Spence is showing such courage and love to have a child, that is special in it’s own right. I love the fact that Ashley was able to take her out of her depression by showing her that she is there for her and she is so willing to be a mom right beside her. T you are amazing and my feeling for you will never change. Thank you for sharing with all of us your love for writing. You will always be incrediable to me! Thank you!

    21. I totally understand what’s going on. I love it when you update. This is heartbreaking. I’m too sad for words after reading this. The song kinda worries me because I think it foreshadows something I’m terrified to read. If if it does I might just die. So kill me if you want. Anyway loved it update soon.
