    Chapter 3: Haunted

"Shadows linger, only through my eyes. I see you. I feel you. Don’t leave my side. It’s not fair, just when I found my world, they took you. They broke you. They tore out your heart. I miss you. You hurt me. You left with a smile. Mistaken. Your sadness was hiding inside. Now all thats left are the pieces to find. The mystery you kept. The soul behind the guise. Where are you? I need you. Don’t leave me here on my own. Speak to me. Be near me. I can’t survive unless I know your with me. Why did you go? All these questions run through my mind. I wish I couldn’t feel it all. Let me be numb, I’m starting to fall."

Hatred. It’s the leech that sucks all other emotions out of her being. She’s left numb and shaking infront of the shattered window as she watches the lightning claw through the darkened sky. The crow gets her attention by fluttering his wings. Looking in his direction, she watches his beak tap against the wooden desk in the small corner of the room. Sit. He wants her to sit in the chair facing the desk.

Just an ordinary desk it seems. The brunette looks at the bird, waiting for some other instructions, but he stands still. She sighs, growing irritated, until she sees the top drawer of the desk slightly open. Curiosity gets the better of her and so she opens it. The contents reveals pictures. Pick them up. The crow finally gives order. He wants her to go through the pictures.

Taking a deep breath she looks down at the pictures. Not touching them yet, she sees the first picture is of some kind of park. Pick them up. The crow orders again. Her hand only inches away from the dusty photographs, she stops. She doesn’t want too. She’s afraid.

The brunette jumps at the caw of the crow. She locks eyes with him, he doesn’t back down. She’s the first to break contact. He wins. Picking the stack of pictures up with her hands a memory bursts through. Grasping the photographs she let herself remember.

The trees on the pathway hid the sun from view, making it a lovely walk. Ashley smiled as she listened to Spencer ask her yet again if they were close to the ‘secret spot’. It was the spot Ashley always went to whenever she wanted to be alone. It was her spot to just enjoy the silence and think. She had never taken anyone there. Until now that is.
