    Victims, Aren’t We All? – (Chapter: 3)

"Seriously, Ash… do you even know where you’re going?" the blonde asked, a hint of worry in her voice. She’s answered by a chuckle from her companion as they keep walking. Silence entered the conversation as they met their destination.

Over grown grass covered the ground as trees burst towards the sky. A old picnic bench and the sound of a river completed the scene. "Well this is it." Ashley said, waving her hands around. She watched as the blonde took in her surroundings.

"It’s beautiful." Spencer breathed. With that answer Ashley smiled. She hadn’t known she had been holding her breath till she heard Spencer’s comment.

They sat on the picnic bench and talked for what seemed like hours. Laughing and teasing like the good friends they were, until Spencer stood up and walked towards the trees. Concerned, Ashley followed, "You okay?" she asked causing the blonde to jump.

"Wha- oh…yeah. Um, could you do me a favor?" with Ashley’s agreement she went on, "Would you turn around so your not facing me?"

"Uh, why?" asked a confused Ashley.

"Just do it and don’t ask questions, please?"

Shrugging her shoulders she did as she was asked. Turning away from Spencer she faced the walk way, "Ok… Now what?"

    "Talk."

    "Spence-"

    "Please, Ashley. For me?"

Sighing, she caved, "About what, anything?" silence answered her question.

Looking around she tried to think of things to talk about finally she just decided to wing it. "So when I was younger my sister and my cousin and I would always go over by the garage at my Grandma’s house and just hang and stuff….well one day my cousin decided that it would be a good idea to smoke some paper. How he got the matches I still don’t kno-"

Out of the blue Ashley felt herself being twirled around and then lips crashing against her own. Stunned she stood as still as a statue. Pulling away she stared dumb struck at Spencer, "Woah…"

The picture falls out of her grasp, stopping the memory from continuing. She watches as it slides to a stop on the hard wood floor. That had been their first kiss. A single tear makes the suicidal drop from her chin to the desk and she’s able to catch a quick breath before the next image flies across her eyes.
