Why Superman Could Never Find a Phone Book – (Chapter: 24: “Elementary, My Dear Watson”)
“What’cha drawing? Is that me…naked?”
Dodger’s eyebrow went up and he grinned. His blue eyes darted back and forth across Ashley’s face, seemingly attempting to read the motivation behind her declaration. Sensing it was safe, he continued.
“Actually, no, you’re not naked, but I figured I would work up to that. You know, stand outside your house staring at your window for a few hours, cook you mac and cheese and leave it in a crock pot on your doorstep…the usual romantic stuff.”
Ashley reached out her hand to grab the notepad, but Dodger pulled his hand back, his face muscles releasing, and a look of seriousness cloaking his face.
Ash moved her hand back, unsure where she stood with this guy. She did not know him well enough to be able to accurately read him, and this irritated her. The lighthearted mood began to simmer, as Ashley began to question the motives behind his jokes, which in turn forced her to rethink the entire verbal exchange all together.
Only a handful of people knew she was allergic to peanuts. This odd, and seemingly trivial piece of information had begun to eat away at her stomach. He had yet to answer her and she was now unsure how to proceed. It would be utterly simple to just turn on her heel and walk back down the aisle and claim a seat, feeling his eyes bore into the back of her head even while sitting in complete darkness. Yet, their banter was sweet, almost as if they had known each other for years and had randomly seen one another in an airport, her three-hour layover their only opportunity to initiate a common connection.
Dodger cleared his throat.
“Look, um, I’m just playing around…I mean, I was drawing you and stuff, but I’m not like stalking you or anything, cause that’s weird…and I am weird, but not in the way you might think, like, ew, remember that creepy guy in high school who gave me that crock pot? He was, like, really weird.”
Dodger took a breath and ran his hand through his hair, glancing up at the front of the auditorium, seemingly anxious for Mitchell to start the lecture.
Ashley continued to stare, a smirk across her face. Her previous doubts about Dodger’s possible Jekyll and Hyde routine, now fading away into oblivion. This guy was nice. And Ashley could use a lot of that in her life right now: nice.

I really like your story but I think you should do something about all the jumping around in time in it because sometimes it’s confusing. Maybe you could write in fake dates for each of your posts or something.

To answer questions: No, I didn’t write a story about Shane. Also, I thought about writing in dates for this, and it is still something I may do after I am done. I understand it does get confusing in terms of time placement, however I did want this fic to be somewhat ambiguous; almost as if each post is just a moment in time, and we aren’t always sure exactly when it occurs, but we we learn about the characters within each vignette, and trust me, by the time the finale hits, you will understand everything. However, I haven’t ruled out the dates idea, fionapplefanatic15, so I may go back and do that…don’t be surprised if I implement this concept soon…and thanks for the comments and tips. It means a lot! *wink*
