    The night is too dark, too spacious, too quiet, and you’re not there to hold me.

    Her brown eyes slowly lifted up to find Sean and Boz nodding and speaking to her two friends with their backs facing towards her. They were coming up with something. Whatever it was, it wouldn’t erase what had happened this night, but maybe it would mean the end of that bastards life.

    Breaking into a walk towards her car, the group of teens gathered around the front. Sean walked over to his crying friend and lead him back to where they were all standing. A silence hung over them that was occasionally broken by Clay’s sobs. “Spencer needs to go to the hospital now. Clay’s going to take her with Ashley, Glen, and Chelsea when they get here.” Aiden instructed.

    “What about you guys?” Ashley asked, she needed to know what was happening, needed something solid to hold onto even if it was only information.

    “We’re gonna take Sean’s car and meet you there.” he answered. “Clay will take Dano’s car, it’s faster.”

    “Bullshit.” Everyone turned their head in surprise to find Clay, visibly shaking with the emotions that coursed through him. “I saw it. I saw Ashley with the gun. You know who did this and you’re going to kill him aren’t you?”

    No one moved or made a sound as the accusation drifted over them and seeped into their bones, making everything so much heavier then it already was.

    “No.” Dano said. “You found Spencer in the middle of the parking lot. Sean’s car broke down so I lent you mine. We’ll follow as soon as we can get his engine to start and if your memory seems to become distorted, I was the one holding the gun.”

    Clay breathed deeply for several moments, allowing the information to twist the facts accordingly before he jutted out his hand palm up. Reaching into her pocket, she took out her car keys and placed them into the boy’s hand.

    “HEY!” Glen’s voice yelled from across the parking lot. He hobbled along as fast as he could with Chelsea walking along side him. When they finally reached the group they noticed the awkwardness and intensity of the moment. They feared the worst.




    The drive to the hospital was spent silence besides the sniffles and sobs that wracked the car. No one spoke. There was nothing to say. Someone they knew and loved had been so badly hurt, so violated, and there was nothing they could do about it but drive.
