Ashley turned around again and muttered something under her breath about ‘sleeping naked’ and it made Spencer’s eyes roll playfully. ‘Soon, but definitely not now.’ A tank top and boxers flew her way and they both changed into their sleeping attire, both of them catching quick glances at toned stomachs and strong thighs throughout the process.

Grateful for the comfy bedspread she’d had since she was 13, she jogged over to her bed and belly-flopped on its soft surface, rubbing her face against the material. She heard Spencer chuckle at her actions and it made the corners of her lips turn up in a grin. The bed sank beside her and she could feel the duvet being pulled from under her.

“Ash.”

“No. Comfy.”

“Don’t you wanna snuggle with me?”

How could she argue with that? With a whole lot of over exaggerated grunting, she soon found herself under the covers, her head on Spencer’s shoulder, arm draped across her flat stomach, their limbs entangled, and her eyelids feeling very heavy.
“I’m so sorry about…”

“I know you are Spence. It’s ok.”

“I Love you.”

“Love you too.”

Dano had taken her seat next to Madison after the phone call from her brother ended. Their hands didn’t interlock again but their shoulder’s were pressed against each other’s, to ones delight/dismay and the others full out joy. They stayed on the side street and talked about the trivial things that had happened between the time they split up and the day they saw each other again. Both made sure to leave out the sleepless nights spent in constant thought of the person beside them.

“Lift your chin up for me?” Madison requested. Dano complied and had to clench most of the muscles in her body to fight off a shiver when she felt a set of soft fingertips smoothing across the underside of her jaw, where an off color scar lined the bone. “I remember that night. The things I did… it scared the shit out of me the next day.”

“You scared the shit outta me that night.” Dano chuckled.

The levity wasn’t returned and what resulted was an awkward silence that fell on the two teens. The admission surprised Madison. Dano rarely, if ever, openly talked about her feelings, not even with her girlfriend. The cheerleader continued to stroke the scar, gentle motions back and forth that she knew were driving the girl next to her insane.
