    Author Notes:

    “Welcome to the clan.”

    It was two in the afternoon before Ashley and Spencer made their way to the Carlin residence which buzzed with excitement from the inside out.  Cars lined the street and music filtered through the air.

     

    Just as Ashley stepped through the threshold Michelle pounced into her arms.  “Why hello there Princess!”  Spencer glanced at her noting the nickname that she had used.  “What?!  It’s a sweet nickname! Right?”  Ashley set the girl down as Michelle nodded and sped off into the living room.

                                                              

    Both girls peeked around the corner to where the young child had taken off.  Her entire family was gathered in the room, laughing, shouting, and conversing with one another.  Suddenly Spencer spotted Clay in the corner playing Legos with Riley.  “Clay!”  The young blonde rushed across the room toward her brother.

     

    Clay beamed as Spencer wrapped him up in a massive hug.  “When did you get here?!”  She asked pulling back happy to see him again.

     

    “I arrived late last night.  How are you?  I feel like I haven’t seen you in years!”  The siblings exchanged pleasantries until their mother interrupted the entire room.

     

    “Oh my!  Arthur, we’re going to be late!”  Paula hopped up from the couch in a frazzled manner.  She looked down at her watch, then up at the grandfather clock, then back down at her watch.

     

    “Late for what mom?”  Spencer took a step toward the woman, a little concerned.

     

    “Glen’s plane is going to be landing at three.  Someone has to pick him up.”  She smiled noticing Ashley still standing near the entrance.  Quietly she waved her in.

     

    “Really?!  We can pick him up you want.”  Spencer looked back at Ashley who nodded and smiled.  When the family finally spotted the brunette she was given a warm greeting.

     

    “Sure honey, that sounds great.”  With that the older Carlin woman settled back down into her seat.  Arthur nodded in thanks as he continued joking with his brother and brother in law.

     

    The girls took Ashley’s Mustang to LAX where they awaited Glen’s arrival near his terminal.  It was nearly three o’clock when a familiar voice roused Spencer from her frantic searching.

     

    “Hey baby sis!”  Glen hugged his sister from behind then wrapped the brunette in an embrace.

    1. i had a smile on my face the whole time…i nearly cried myself…this was a powerful update…nd i loved that it focused souly on ash and spence…i also love that paula isn’t such a sour puss anymore…i was even more estatic that they gave her a stocking….awesome update…can’t wait to read more…p.s…..i hope kasey and kyla can work out their problems….they are good together….and after all they been through…that can’t throw in the towel…pms

What I liked the best was the fact that Ashley & Spencer were so openly affectionate with one another without any judgment from anyone else…that was awesome. Favorite line: Ashley had definitely felt at home today; more so than she had in years. She would never forget this day where it was official; the Carlin’s took her as one of their own. – This was a very touching and heartwarming story, that was quite memorable. I loved it! PMS
