    Author Notes:

    “Welcome to the clan.”

     

    “Glen!  How are you?!  How’s college?!  When are you playing your first ga-“ She was cut off by a fit of laughter.  “Gee Spence, slow down.  He have a month to catch up remember?”  Spencer blushed and followed them out to Ashley’s car where they sped off home.

     

    Upon arriving Glen was greeted by a very enthusiastic Carlin clan.  Paula and Spencer’s aunts were in the kitchen preparing to bake cookies and other delectable goods.  The men were gathered in the living room still bantering with one another.  Ashley and Spencer slipped into the hall and listened in on the boys.

     

    “Just in time girls!”  Arthur caught sight of them waved the girls into the living room.  “We’re going to get the tree and you” He motioned toward Ashley and continued “Are going to help us pick it out.”

     

    The brunette’s stomach was a tad flustered; she had never would have imagined that one day she would be helping the Carlins pick out a Christmas tree.  “That sounds great dad!  Let’s go!”  Spencer clutched onto Ashley’s hand and hauled her outside to Arthur’s car.

     

    Ashley and Spencer piled into the back seat; both girls held on tightly to Michelle and Riley who settled onto their laps for the ride.  Glen squeezed in between them and Arthur and his brother Chris rode up front.  The entire drive was comfortable except for the occasional minute long spats between the twins.  It took nearly 45 minutes to finally arrive at the tree lot.

     

    “I can’t believe Christmas is only two weeks away.”  Ashley felt like a little child as she held Spencer’s hand eyeing the trees with excitement.

     

    “I know and I can’t wait.”  The blonde gave her girlfriend’s hand a little squeeze.  “Thanks for coming out here by the way.  This means a lot to them…and me.”

     

    “Spence you don’t have to thank me for something I wanted to do.  You’re family is great, even your Uncle Chris is growing on me.”  Both girls glance over at the man to whom Ashley referred to and giggled.  Uncle Chris had picked up a pine cone and flicked it at Riley who chased after his father desperately trying to retaliate.  The young boy called out for Glen’s help who happily tackled his uncle down to the ground.

    1. i had a smile on my face the whole time…i nearly cried myself…this was a powerful update…nd i loved that it focused souly on ash and spence…i also love that paula isn’t such a sour puss anymore…i was even more estatic that they gave her a stocking….awesome update…can’t wait to read more…p.s…..i hope kasey and kyla can work out their problems….they are good together….and after all they been through…that can’t throw in the towel…pms

    3. Wow! Snowdrop1026…my sentiments exactly! What I liked the best was the fact that Ashley & Spencer were so openly affectionate with one another without any judgment from anyone else…that was awesome. Favorite line: Ashley had definitely felt at home today; more so than she had in years. She would never forget this day where it was official; the Carlin’s took her as one of their own. – This was a very touching and heartwarming story, that was quite memorable. I loved it! PMS
