    A Christmas story

    12/22/05

    (Intercom)

‘Jessica, report to the service department please.’

    Macy’s department store

    (Alice)

‘Bette, dressing up as one of Santa’s helpers is out of the question. Who wears a costume on Christmas?’

    (Bette)

‘Guys posing as Santa do it mostly, Alice. Just stop pouting and try on the darn outfit. Being Santa’s elf isn’t that bad and I think the costume suits you.’=she chuckles to herself imaging Alice with pointy ears and a pointy nose.

    (Alice)

‘You’re so full of yourself. At least you don’t have to walk around serving groan adults in this pitiful looking thing. What happens if Bobby sees me in this thing he’ll be so turned off.’=she looks away and folds one arm over the other. A look of embarrassment fills her face.

    (Bette)

‘Please! When is he ever turned off? The man is hard all the time.’=she says out loud causing a woman to turn away shyly and act as though she didn’t just hear what the brunette said.

    (Alice)

‘Ha-Ha! You’re so not funny. Hey, at least I get some. When’s the last time you had some? Oh, wait, wasn’t it like six months to a year ago?’=Bette’s face turns red and she hits Alice with the clothes.

    (Bette)

‘And? At least I value my body.”

    (Alice)

“No, you value being old and alone.’=Bette’s mouth opens and her jaw drops to the floor.

    (Bette)

‘I haven’t found the right one yet, Alice. And secondly, I’m not in the rush to be with someone. I’m not like you who desires to have someone warm in her bed when she gets home. I value my job and my assets and it just so happens that I haven’t found anyone to share my happiness with.’

    (Alice)

‘I wonder why.’=She says walking toward the perfume section. ’You have a closed mind and closed legs.’=Bette laughs out loud.

    (Bette)

    ‘My time will come, Al.”

    (Alice)

‘When? You’ve been saying that same line for the last couple of years and all I’ve seen so far are those flowers blossoming in your backyard. And the sad thing is it’s surrounded by dirt, bugs, and the sun. And it gets more play than you do.’

    (Bette)

“Don’t ok! Do not compare me to a patch of flowers and dirt. I’m valued higher than that.’

    1. Cute story! I loved the ending. Nothing would please me more than a Bette and Jodi break-up with a Bette and Tina make-up this year. Hope you had a Merry Christmas and I wish you a happy and prosperous New Year.
